Turnaround

I've had quite a turnaround in the luck department today! No, I didn't win megamillions last night, but nobody did, so of course I believe this means that I will win on Tuesday.

Today I had several things that I wanted to do, but was resigned to the fact that I would be waiting on the cable guys all day. You see, the service in one of the bedrooms was all messed up, so Time Warner was going to send out a buy between 11-2 to take care of that. I also wanted to put an outlet in the other bedroom, but of course was going to have to wait on a different cable guy to do that between 2-5. So as I said, I was resigned to waiting ALL day for BOTH of the cable guys.

Well, at 10:30 this morning, cable guy #1 calls and says, would it be okay if he came early. Are you kidding? Of course it would be okay! Once he gets here, I tell him that I'm so glad he is early, but still a little bummed because I have another guy coming from 2-5 that I still have to wait on. Once he gets into it and figures out what has to be done, he says he has to drop a new line into this room, so he might as well do the other room while he is at it. HOORAY! Even better, he doesn't charge me the $40 that I was going to have to pay!

So now that I was free to leave my home and it was only 11:15, I decide to head toward Dallas. Most things you can do around the McKinney/Allen/Plano/Frisco area, but not these tasks that were on my list. I stopped in Allen and picked up a baby gift that I had special ordered, and then went on to Northpark. Neiman's was having their spring beauty week, so I needed to punch up my make-up for the spring and summer. That was the first task that HAD to be done down at Northpark because they only sell my make-up in two stores, in the WHOLE State of Texas.

The second task was that I wanted to pop in Tiffanys. I got a new necklace from there for Christmas, but have been wishing that the chain was a couple of inches longer. I wanted to talk to them about what could be done about it. Turns out, they can send it to New York and in two weeks time they can extend it for only $15 for the first inch and $1 for each inch after that! Also, they will ship it to my house free of charge, so I won't have to go back to Dallas! Talk about customer service! While there I found out that if we had ordered it from the store, they could have done it that way to begin with. I also found out that many of their bracelets can be ordered the same way, which is fantastic news since I have enormous wrists!

Lisa had called while I was in Neimans, so as I was leaving the mall, I gave her a call and found out that she was just up the street eating at one of my favorite establishments, Red Hot and Blue. So I joined Lisa, Tommy and Lisa's parents, Don and Edna for lunch. It was really yummy and this time they had the Carolina sauce which I love. Don and Edna bought my lunch, so that was another stroke of luck!

All in all, a pretty good day so far. I think I'm going to watch a movie next. Last night I saw "Vicky Christina Barcelona" and today I'm going to watch "Brideshead Revisited".

Wow...you were lucky. There is nothing I dislike more than waiting on repair people for that random 2-4 hour window. I am so jazzed you got it done so easily. It really is wonderful luck you had to day!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau

Europe 2023 {Day 9 ~ Munich & Bavarian Alps}

 On Tuesday, December 20th I grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then walked about 15 minutes to where I met my tour for the day.  On my first visit to Munich, I only had time for one "day trip" outside of the city and I chose to go to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, but I always knew I wanted to venture down to the Bavarian Alps and see some castles on my next visit.  I had booked the premium tour and it was so fancy.  There was a snack bar and they even served beer and wine on the way home after the last stop of the day.  First stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was a "small" castle of King Ludwig's that was a partial mini-replica of Versailles.  It was a snowy walk to the castle... Interior photos were not allowed, but you can see some pics of the interior HERE Like Versailles, there are fountains and sculptures surrounding Linderhof, but they cover the statues with wood huts to protect them from the winter elements. After visiting Linderhof, we made a (to

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches... Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew... It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an &quo
