Merry Christmas to Me!

So today, without much planning at all, I bought myself a Christmas present.  A very BIG Christmas present.  No, I cannot take photos with it.  I still want a DSLR camera badly, but this was Bigger!  Anyone want to guess?  Anyone?  You want to see a photo (or 4) of it?  Okay, here you go...

A Toyota 4Runner!

Anyone guess it?

Now  I feel I have to justify my purchase to you.  I have had my Acura for almost 8 years.  Partly because I love it, partly because I was stupid and leased it, then put too many miles on it, then bought it, then was upside down on it, etc.  I will never, ever lease a car again!  Anyway, I had decided that I was going to basically drive it 'til the wheels fell off.  On December 1st, my car hit the 100,000 mile mark.  I remember this because I noticed it while driving to/from seeing Pioneer Woman.  Anyway, basically for the past couple of weeks, things have begun to go wrong and it started to look like "the wheels were going to come off".  Sadly, I was trying to fix one of the problems and bought 2 new tires last week.  Not the best timing on earth!

Anyway, I have really wanted an SUV for a while.  Today, after another "engine incident" that seemed like writing on the wall that my transmission was about to crash, I got online and started looking for a car.  I looked for about 15 minutes, and located this one in Grandbury, which is about 2 hours away.  I called the guy about it at about 11:30, e-mailed him the financing info and headed off to a Christmas luncheon.  I got home at about 2:30, he gave me a vague idea of what he would give me for my car and I said, sold, I'm on my way.  I got there at about 4:50, drove it for a few minutes, had them evaluate my car, went to sign papers and was done and transferring junk from the Acura to the Toyota at 6:05.  Never let it be said that I don't move fast people!

My new car isn't brand new, but is pretty darn close.  You'll never believe this, but it is a 2007 and only has 11,000 miles!  The guy that sold it to me told me about the previous owner (his neighbor) who basically never drove it.  It was a certified pre-owned and I got extended warranty so that it is covered bumper to bumper until 100,000 miles or November 2014.

I'm so excited because it meets several of my "I hope it has" items.  It has climate control (my Acura had totally spoiled me to this) and it has a plug so that I can plug my ipod directly into the car.  It also has several "fancy" things like a clock you can see at night (the light on mine in the Acura went out ages ago) and a rear view mirror (yes, doesn't seem like an exotic thing, but again, mine in the Acura broke and was $$$ to fix, so I've been without for several years!).  I'm also excited because it doesn't have to be filled up with premium gas like the Acura.

Anyway, I was sad to see my Acura go, but since it started having "troubles" I was basically burnin' rubber out of that dealership!

Coming over from PW's site to see who "Kara" was as I have someone close to me by the same wonderful name!

I loveeeee your new car. I will be shopping for one soon. Seems like you got a fantastic deal. Congrats on that.

So, you got it in Granbury? I love that city. We almost moved there. My cousin and her family do live there now.

Planning on adding you to my "daily read" if you don't mind. You seem like a really fun person.

Blessings!

Merry Christmas to you!!! I'm so excited for you and glad to know that you have something reliable to drive.

How did you drive a car without a rear view mirror?? When I was at Baylor, mine melted off!! (Yes, it was that hot). The car was under warranty, so they fixed it. But it was so awkward to drive for just a couple of days without it.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau

Europe 2023 {Day 9 ~ Munich & Bavarian Alps}

 On Tuesday, December 20th I grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then walked about 15 minutes to where I met my tour for the day.  On my first visit to Munich, I only had time for one "day trip" outside of the city and I chose to go to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, but I always knew I wanted to venture down to the Bavarian Alps and see some castles on my next visit.  I had booked the premium tour and it was so fancy.  There was a snack bar and they even served beer and wine on the way home after the last stop of the day.  First stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was a "small" castle of King Ludwig's that was a partial mini-replica of Versailles.  It was a snowy walk to the castle... Interior photos were not allowed, but you can see some pics of the interior HERE Like Versailles, there are fountains and sculptures surrounding Linderhof, but they cover the statues with wood huts to protect them from the winter elements. After visiting Linderhof, we made a (to

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches... Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew... It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an &quo
