Easter's on its way...

I made a quick trip down to Dallas today to play Easter Bunny and deliver some goodies to my cousins. I had filled cute little felt pails with candy, pencils, etc. They were wrapped in cellophane and tied with an adorable springy looking ribbon, complete with green and pink tags I had made. Why am I being so descriptive? Because they were so freakin' cute and I forgot to take a photo before I delivered them!

What necessitated their delivery today was that I had made a few cookies yesterday and wanted to include them with their treats...

I spent the better part of all day yesterday making cookies! I made daisies...

Easter Bonnets...

Easter Eggs...

Bunny Butts...
Lots and Lots of Bunny Butts!

While down in Dallas, I made a pit stop at one of my favorite nurseries
They are a great place to go for something a little different. Of course they have all the standard stuff too, but it is a little pricey (probably worth it...their geraniums are to die for, but pricey)

Anyway, ever since I went to the arboretum last week, I have been obsessed with the idea of getting some Voodoo Fuchsias. I figured Nicholson was a good place to look for them. They didn't have Voodoo Fuchsias, but they did have something called Shadow Dancer Fuchsias which the expert there said could tolerate our heat a little better than the Voodoos. They look similar...
Would you just look at them...
Fabulous!
I also got a different variety of impatients to mix in with the fuchsias. They are called Butterfly Impatients and are a dwarf variety so they won't get as big as the regular old impatients...
I'm afraid that this is going to necessitate some work in the near future!

I love the bunny butts! Your easter eggs look much better than mine. I made crosses for the holy week service, tomorrow. The flowers you bought are beautiful. The weather, today, has given me spring fever and in the mood to plant flowers.

I love the cookies. So cute!! I need some good plants for my yard...can't find such a good nursery as you have. I'm guessing they would never tolerate my heat!! I will look on!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love  Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts.

I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.

Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)...

Here's the Phase 1ingredients... Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too) I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 because I use my yogurt cup as a meas…

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches...

Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress

And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew...
It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an "A&quo…

Pumpkins, Gourds & Flowers, oh my!

Yesterday, I went to the Dallas Arboretum.  Lisa, Jennifer, and I went as my birthday outing.  We got a late start due to some court delays, so we stopped for lunch first.  I needed some make-up too, so we went to Neimans.  We ogled some purses, had lunch, I got some make-up and then we headed out to the arboretum (in the rain).

It was raining pretty good on the way over, but luckily, we only needed umbrellas for a few minutes.  Thankfully the sun never came out, because it was so humid, I'm pretty sure we would have melted.

First, we made our way toward the Pumpkin Village...

I love how they made garland out of the mini-pumpkins...

These rose bushes were just stunning!  The roses on each bush varied in color from a coral, to a blush, to a purple hue...
It was Fall at the arboretum, and pumpkins, gourds, and mums are a large part of the visit.  However, they also have a Chihuly art exhibition going on.  I took so many pictures, I HAVE to make that it's whole separate post.  …
