NPFP (Never Pay Full Price)

I've entitled this post Never Pay Full Price (NPFP) because, well, that's usually my motto.  I love nice things and I love getting them on a deal!

Let me show you some of my recent finds...

FIND # 1:

I was going to a fancy grocery store a few weeks back and I missed my exit off the highway (I swear the exit sign was missing!).  Anyway, I was forced to exit on a different road, and while exiting, I thought to myself  You know Nordstrom Rack is just up the street...  Of course, I made the detour.  I hadn't been to Nordstrom Rack in ages, and had never purchased a thing there.  In fact, I don't really know if I would have even characterized myself as a "Nordstrom Shopper" the last time I was there.

I found Nordstrom Rack to be a completely different world when I was there.  I think it helps to be a "Nordstrom Shopper".  If you are familiar with the store, then you can zero in on brands (a lot of the store is organized by brands) that you like.  I found several things I liked, but only purchased one thing...new sunglasses.  I mean heck, if I'm going to live on the face of the sun (aka: Texas), I need a new pair of sunglasses, right?  Seriously though, I've been in the market for some new ones for about a year.

I got these Tory Burch ones...

and in the spirit of NPFP, *drumroll please*, I got them 60% off retail!
and they even came with a cute case...
FIND #2:

I found an adorable patent leather Kate Spade wallet in Gumdrop (hot pink) last December.  It was on sale and I should have bought it, but I didn't.  I rationalized that it was December and it was Christmas, and I was spending enough on gifts already, and there wasn't anything wrong with my wallet, except it was a little beat-up.

Then it became one big freaking shopping regret.  The wheels started to fall off of my wallet, so to speak, and then I couldn't find one that I like and was on sale.  Then my wallet got even worse.  Last Sunday, I took the plunge and ordered a new wallet.  My friend, Abby, ordered the same wallet on the same day.  We buy matching wallets.  Not sure why.  We just do.  I also get amused that it confuses the heck out of her kids that we have identical wallets and phone cases.

Anyway, I don't really consider this purchase an extravagance, it was a necessity!  Well, okay, so I could have gone to Wal-Mart, so to that extent it was an extravagance, but I mean really, I'm not going to do that.  I'm just not.

Here's proof that the old Coach needed to go...
It lost it's snap months ago...
Ghetto.  Just total ghetto...
Now the for the new Kate Spade:  Love that it's wrapped cute from the second you open the box...
Abby & I are both beside ourselves about this box.  We'd die for a wallet that matched...

This isn't the pink gumdrop one, but it is patent...
a bright color ~ called Salmon which goes from pinky in some light to coral-ish in other lights (but easy to spot in your purse)...
and the style I wanted...
AND it was procured in the spirit of NPFP for 58% off Original Retail!

FIND #3:

Remember these pants I got at the Nordstrom Sale in two different colors?

Well I planned to wear them with my tall riding boots, BUT, I kept thinking that they were cute as shown with the ankle booties.  I also reasoned that the tall boots can be too hot unless the weather is really cool.  Since I haven't seen the other side of 100 degrees in forever, I thought that I could probably wear the pants more often (especially here in Texas this Fall) if I had some booties.

In the spirit of full-disclosure, I seem to remember a conversation with Lisa last fall where I proclaimed something along the lines of "I wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of ankle booties".  I guess a girl can change her mind.

I had recently received a $10 rewards certificate from DSW.  Jennifer had a $10 off coupon that she wasn't going to use, so today I went and got these...
pretty cute...
pretty comfy (believe it or not)...
and again, in the spirit of NPFP, 59% off of the retail price!
A little retail therapy today has restored my soul!

We buy matching wallets because 1. we both like a lot of credit card slots 2. you find us a wallet that fits our needs and 3. I copy you!!

I don't know about ankle booties yet, I was a little nervous when you were off to buy them. I think they are precious and in 3 seasons right before they fall off the earth because they are no longer popular, I will buy them!!

I so loved getting a fun package in the mail today. We so should do this again. I'm seriously wanting a purse, when do we have time to shop for that?

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau

Europe 2023 {Day 9 ~ Munich & Bavarian Alps}

 On Tuesday, December 20th I grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then walked about 15 minutes to where I met my tour for the day.  On my first visit to Munich, I only had time for one "day trip" outside of the city and I chose to go to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, but I always knew I wanted to venture down to the Bavarian Alps and see some castles on my next visit.  I had booked the premium tour and it was so fancy.  There was a snack bar and they even served beer and wine on the way home after the last stop of the day.  First stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was a "small" castle of King Ludwig's that was a partial mini-replica of Versailles.  It was a snowy walk to the castle... Interior photos were not allowed, but you can see some pics of the interior HERE Like Versailles, there are fountains and sculptures surrounding Linderhof, but they cover the statues with wood huts to protect them from the winter elements. After visiting Linderhof, we made a (to

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches... Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew... It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an &quo
