It's the Lola Pumpkin

Happy Halloween! Hope you get zero Tricks and lots of Treats! This year, Lola is a Jack O'Lantern... and by "this year" I mean for the 60 seconds I made her wear it so that I could get some photos... She wants no part of anything on her head, but of course, I had to get the one photo with the stem on... I only subject her to about a minute of the torture and then just take some Fall Pictures by the pumpkins... Which is why I always buy her costumes at 90% off-after Halloween sale-at Target!

Playing Catch-up

I've been AWOL for another week, so this is a random catch-up post... a week's long stream on consciousness post, so beware! (1) I didn't just buy myself the Louis for my birthday. I bought a wonderful new cookbook that I really need to crack open and try... I also got myself an iPad... This was the year of birthday indulgences.  And hey, I'm just doing my part to stimulate the economy!   (2) The weather is cooler and I'm loving it!  If only I could live in sweaters and boots year round! (3) It's almost November. Eek!  That means the Christmas panic has set in here.  Christmas cards are midway through the ordering process.  I've completed some Christmas shopping already, but Mom is coming in two weeks for our marathon shop-fest. (4) I'm so in love with Pinterest that it's not even funny.  (5) I got a new wireless router this week. Mine was really crapped out and since installing it, I'm loving my faster electronic life again. (6)

My Birthday Treat

Today is my birthday.  My 35th birthday.  I'm not really at all pleased about this.  I decided to do something BIG for my birthday, or rather make a BIG purchase for my birthday.  It seemed like a better alternative to jumping off the roof which was the other option (I kid, I kid...kinda). So, I asked for money for my birthday and added some of my own money and got myself a grand gift. They tried to cheat me out of a box, but I got one... Meet my new friend Louis... I've been going back and forth for months over which bag I wanted, but I finally settled on the "Delightful GM"...

Fall at the Arboretum

I went to the arboretum yesterday with my friends Lisa, Jennifer and Abby.  Not that there is one photo of any of us to prove it! There are 50,000 pumpkins, gourds & squash at the Dallas Arboretum.  I doubt there is a variety of any of those that wasn't represented... White Pumpkins... Big Fat Pumpkins... Rows of pumpkins... A pumpkin village... A river and lake... Technically, it was called Swan Gourd Lake... The swans... The various pumpkin huts represented different places from Cinderella. The white pumpkin one was the ballroom... This was inside the ballroom...the glass slipper... The flower garden... A flower... I was a little disappointed that more mums weren't in bloom, but here were some that were... This was one side of a little bridge.  There were misters watering ferns on the other side, but the mist was drifting under the bridge and made this side look very Halloween spooky... After the arboretum, we went to Northpark and had l

A Texas Tech Weekend

I went to Lubbock last weekend. I got there a little after sunset on Friday. Here's the photo I took of the West Texas sunset (taken through my bug splattered windshield)... I went to Lubbock to see my friend Ann and to go to the Tech game on Saturday.  Friday night after I arrived, we went to Cagle's Steaks for dinner.  I was so ready to chow down, I didn't even take a photo! Saturday evening we tailgated with Ann's family and then went to the game.  It was wonderful weather.  Here is some of the pregame action... The Masked Rider... Because it was Homecoming, there were some ex-cheerleaders. See that lady in the front holding flowers? She is 90 years old and moments before this photo was taken, she amazed us all when she DID THE SPLITS! We saw her in the restroom at half time and told her she was awesome.  She said she was mad because some of the guys had tried to help her up and she "didn't need any help!". Raider Red...
