2014 Holiday Gift Guide

It's the first day of Hanukkah, and only 9 days until Christmas... this holiday gift guide is up a little late, but if you still need some ideas for people, then maybe this will help.  I think I'm officially DONE!  I've been mostly done for a few weeks, but had a few items left that I needed to go pick up.  I finished checking items off of that list today.

Rayne Necklace by Kendra Scott.  It retails for $80.
They come in tons of colors, and gold or silver finishes.
I happened to show you the two that I recently bought for myself (with the use of birthday gift cards)...  black and magenta.  I have only had them for a couple of weeks, but have found myself wearing them lots already.

This is the Tom's Desert Wedge Bootie in Taupe.  They retail for approximately $89.

I am pretty confident that a pair awaits me under a tree somewhere :-)  I have been told that I'm going to love these shoes.  I also love the idea behind Tom's One for One program, and am happy that for each pair of their shoes that I buy, a pair is donated to a needy child somewhere.

Now, those were pretty spendy items, but here is a deal!  These two packs of infinity scarves are from Walmart and you get BOTH for $4.97!!  I have bought several of these sets this fall.  And if you take them out of that packaging, nobody knows there were so cheap! (I was actually wearing this printed one today)

I have had a Barefoot Dreams Bamboo Chic Drape front cardigan for 5 or 6 years now.  I LOVE IT!  I've been telling everyone who will listen that they have to have one.  I've been doing this for years, but not until another blogger (Pinterest Told Me To) started telling people they had to have one, did anyone listen to me!  It's an expensive item as well ($90), but anyone on your list will love it.  My original one is black, and I recently bought myself this plum one.  Wear it around the house.  Wear it out.  It is just THE BEST.

I just tried the Oprah Chai Tea that you can buy at Starbucks or Teavana.  It is good.  If you know a tea drinker, I think it would be a hit.

I had long been wanting one of the Cath Kidston Stanley mugs, and I finally bought myself one in London this summer.  It is my favorite mug ever.  It is a good size and a good weight.  They retail for $11 (though some patterns are on sale).  You can enter a shipping code to get $8 shipping from the UK.  This is the pattern that I have.
I think this is a cute one too...

But I love this new pattern!

Kiehl's always has great products.  I particularly like the Soy Milk & Honey fragrance...
I really love this body polish because I like a very gritty scrub that will get rid of your winter dry skin.  Right now Nordstrom appears to be price matching these Kiehl's products and you can save a little.

Bath & Body Works has revamped their scrub recently, and I think it is grittier than it used to be.  So that could be a good option too.

Anyone on your list that loves polish, would love these Butter London sets.

Is there a Bravo TV fan, or just a general lover of pop culture on your list?  If so, you HAVE GOT TO GET THEM THIS BOOK!  Sorry to yell, but I feel strongly about this book.  It is really great.  I laughed and laughed as I read it.

Is there a drinker on your list?  Maybe spring for a bottle of CasaMigos tequila.  It's the George Clooney & Randy Gerber tequila.  I haven't tried it, but it is suppose to be very good.

This is a gift that our law firm gave to several people and groups of people this year, and it was a giant hit!  Nothing Bundt Cakes are always good, and they offer several sizes that can fit different needs.  You an get the dozen bundtinis for $18
Or you can do the bundtlets.  Give a single, or a tower.

Those are my ideas for 2014!  I hope they give you some ideas if you are stuck!  Happy Shopping!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau

Europe 2023 {Day 9 ~ Munich & Bavarian Alps}

 On Tuesday, December 20th I grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then walked about 15 minutes to where I met my tour for the day.  On my first visit to Munich, I only had time for one "day trip" outside of the city and I chose to go to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, but I always knew I wanted to venture down to the Bavarian Alps and see some castles on my next visit.  I had booked the premium tour and it was so fancy.  There was a snack bar and they even served beer and wine on the way home after the last stop of the day.  First stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was a "small" castle of King Ludwig's that was a partial mini-replica of Versailles.  It was a snowy walk to the castle... Interior photos were not allowed, but you can see some pics of the interior HERE Like Versailles, there are fountains and sculptures surrounding Linderhof, but they cover the statues with wood huts to protect them from the winter elements. After visiting Linderhof, we made a (to

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches... Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew... It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an &quo
