This has been a really busy work week. I can't believe it isn't Friday yet! Oh, and it is Hot! I think the heat index was suppose to hit about 110 today. I really am always perplexed this time of year as to why my ancestors settled in this part of the country. Were they just too darn lazy to proceed to a cooler climate, or not smart enough? Why didn't I take the bull by the horns and move somewhere cooler...lazy, not smart enough, who knows!
Next week starts the "busy" part of the summer for me because instead of teaching 2 nights per week for 2 hours each, I will be teaching 4 nights a week (2 hrs for 2 nights a week and 4 hours for the other 2 nights). So basically on Tuesdays and Thursdays I will live the entire evening at school. Yuck! I'm currently racking my brain to try and figure out what I can do to hold my students attention for 4 hours at a time. I'm re-watching the second episode of "John Adams" right now to see if it will be good to show when we are talking about the Declaration of Independence. I'm afraid it is too smart for my students. I think they will be bored and just not get it. The question is do I care? I mean it is a great time filler (each episode is 90 minutes long). That is what I'm milling over right now.
On another note, I'm really wishing that I had some blackberry cobbler and homemade ice cream right now. Heck, I'd settle for peach cobbler too. I wish I had a summer birthday. If I did, it might have occurred to me to ask for an ice cream maker as a gift at some point and then I could make my own ice cream. However, I have an October birthday, so I never remember that I want one by that point. Maybe I should treat myself to an early b-day gift? In the past, I thought I wanted one of those Cuisinart ones that doesn't require ice and salt. Lisa got one for a wedding gift and I borrowed it to make ice-cream (it wasn't like she was actually going to use it, heck she registered for it so I could make her ice cream!). After that, I decided I didn't like that kind of maker and wanted one of the wooden ones where you have to use ice and salt. Do you know they can cost as much as $249!?! That's crazy! I'm thinking more of the Target or Wal-mart varieties if anything.
Finally for this rambling update on the nothing that I have to add of any importance, I booked my flight yesterday for my trip to Savannah via North Carolina in October. I also have decided that I think I have to make a pit stop in Charleston on the way down to Savannah. I don't think I can be that close and not stop in for a 2 hour tour. It is the hometown of Rhett Butler after all.

I have a little Cuisinart. I rarely use it. The ice cream isn't nearly as good.
The wooden ice cream makers come in 4 and 6 qt varieties. You can get the 4 qt for about $200 (but the 6 qt is only $20 more). Look at this site- they appear to have good prices. (But, I'm sure you have to pay shipping too).
