I've already been pouting this week because my uncle is in DC with my cousins on spring break. Of all the weeks to be in DC! Let's just look at the list of things that have been going on this week: (1) A state visit and dinner with the Camerons, (2) George Clooney on The Hill testifying, (3) George Clooney at the State dinner, (4) Many from the case of Downton Abbey in town for the State dinner and NOW... Here I am again.  I haven't blogged in forever.  I don't know what my problem is.  Strike that.  I do know what my problem is.  I've been busy and tired.  I know that it's a common problem with everyone this time of year.  Here's what I've been up to... A couple of weekends ago, I went to see my cousin Gracie perform in Guys & Dolls.  It was a great show and she did a super job.  Those kids have been practicing every hour they weren't in school for months now.  The photography was pretty hard in there because it was dark and everyone was always dancing and moving, but here are a few shots I got of our Gracie girl... The day after I attended Guys & Dolls , Jennifer and I decided to do a speedy version of a Canton trip.  We were there by 8:30 a.m. and we were leaving my 11:30 a.m.  Since it was Sunday and the last market day before Thanksgiving, we lucked into some Thanksgiving decor steals and deals.  I got t...

Sorry I haven't posted one dang fun thing this week.  Here's what's been going on: (1) On Tuesday, I had an "open plea".  What this means is that my client wanted to plead guilty, but we couldn't reach a plea agreement with the state.  This was a felony case, and my client was currently on parole and had been convicted many many times in the past, so the DA only wanted to offer time in prison.  As you can imagine, my client didn't like that idea too much, so we went open to the judge, which meant that the judge could sentence him to probation, or anywhere within the punishment range which was 180 days to 2 years in prison.  So we did a mini-trial on Tuesday and I got my guy 18 months probation!  Seriously, that's less time than many misdemeanors get.  Woot!  Score one for our firm! It seems like there are a lot of dates to remember this time of year.  On May 8th, it was 9 years ago that I fell down some stairs and totally jacked up my left ankle.  On May 9th, it was 1 year ago that I almost needed to seek a discount when it came to future glove purchases. Thankfully, there are many happy memories too!  On May 10th, it was 14 years (gasp!) since I graduated with my Bachelor's degree.  On May 9th, it was 13 years ago (gasp again!) that I graduated with my Master's Degree.  But more importantly, 10 years ago today was a day I'll always remember...10 years ago today, I graduated from law school!  In some ways, it really seems like it was only yesterday, but at other times, it seems like I've earned those 10 years too.
