You know how people always talk about the five people they'd have as dinner guests if they could have anyone?  Well, I can tell you, for sure , that Mindy Kaling would be one of my five.  I love her.  She is smart.  She is funny.  She is stylish.  She would be the perfect dinner guest. This week I'm celebrating Mindy Kaling Tuesday because it's a big day for Mindy lovers everywhere.  First, her much awaited second book is being released today. Second, her show The Mindy Project is launching it's 4th season over on hulu.  Fox didn't pick it up, but smartly hulu did.  So I'll be getting a hulu subscription so I can watch the one show that makes me laugh the hardest. It's not too late to get on board as a Mindy fan.  If you haven't watched The Mindy Project, seasons 1-3 are streaming on hulu (seasons 2 and 3 are better than 1, so stick with it).  If you haven't read Mindy's first book, I recommend it too.

It seems to me that Summer is for books, what Thanksgiving through January is to movies.  I love the  summer book season! Here are some of the books that have just been released, or are about to release, that I will be reading this summer... I just love Emily.  I love all her books.  I have attended three of her book signings, and will attend another on June 3rd.  I always have such fun!  Oh, and have I mentioned we follow each other on twitter?  This new book is out today, so get your copy.  I'm currently stalking Fedex tracking for progress on my copy! I was so happy when I woke up this morning and saw the calendar reminder pop-up on my iphone screen saying it was "Oscar day".  Of course I have it in my calendar... duh!  Today is my favorite entertainment day of the year!  But this post isn't all about the Oscars, it's about entertainment in general... TV, Music, Books, and Movies.  Four of my favorite things! Television So Downton Abbey is over.  It's a long long wait until January of next year, when season 4 will come back to us.  That's a lot of television void to fill.  I watch a lot of television.  Some of the shows I watch are ok.  Some I love.  You know how it is.  One of my "must watch immediately" shows is Scandal ...  Have you watched it?  If you haven't, start from the beginning.  I think it would be a very hard show to pick up right in the middle.  I am so addicted, it's not even funny. This post is SO last year, but this is what I did the last week of 2011! I'm a little bit bummed because I've had only two days off for the holidays.  I was off on the 26th and then today.  The other days weren't too bad, but I had Juvenile Detention hearings Tuesday through Friday last week, so that took up all of the mornings.  I would take tomorrow off, but another attorney scheduled some hearings for me to attend at 9 a.m. on a Guardianship. Boo! Back to last week~ I was trying to take it easy due to my Christmas Eve knee and ankle sprain.  I think that it has paid off.  They aren't back to 100% (well, it's my bum "2 screws" ankle, so it's not back to it's normal 75%), but they are better than they were last week.  Part of my taking it easy involved quite the movie-palooza.  I went to see The Descendants (soooo good!  Pulling for Clooney for the Oscar!) on Friday at the theatre, but everything else has been on my Apple TV.  Using my ...

Yesterday was a bear of a day for me. I mean when you are eating a peanut butter & jelly sandwich in your car on the way to the jail, you know you are having a day! Part of the rushing around was because I was going to the 3:40 showing of The Help. As I've mentioned to everyone I know, I LOVED the book The Help , which to be honest, meant that going to see the movie scared the daylights out of me.  I have never LOVED a book and also LOVED the movie.  It just doesn't really happen.  Well, maybe To Kill A Mockingbird & Gone With The Wind , but that's about it.  But Nate Berkus, who is one of the Executive Producers of The Help , had promised several months ago (via twitter) that this movie wouldn't disappoint the book lovers. Y'all know I read a lot, but one author that I always rush to the bookstore and grab her books the day they come out, is Emily Giffin. A couple of times, I've even gone to her book signings... Just a side note here, she has lived my dream life: Went to law school, was a lawyer, quit being a lawyer, moved to London to write, became successful writer and now lives back in the USA where her books are being made into movies and she is schmoozing with celebrities like Kate Hudson, Collin Egglesfield and John Krasinski just to name a few. Many of you who may be reading this know that I read a lot, and many of you may be my book-swapping buddies, so I thought I would have posts about what I'm reading and maybe what I am watching on TV. I have just finished the last two books in the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" series. I read the first one years ago, the second one a few months ago, and decided to finish the series because it appears that the new movie that is just out actually isn't just the 2 nd summer, but encompasses stories from the 3rd and 4 th summers as well. I am now reading a new book called "How to Be Single". Before you get ready to call for a straight jacket for me and think that I'm reading some crazy self help book about being single...stop... it is a novel. The author is Liz Tuccillo who was one of the writers on the Sex and the City writing staff. I'm about 200 pages in and it is a fun read. I think I will definitely be recommending it.
