{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... New Makeup 2018

I had been using the same makeup pretty much across the board for some time.  I've ventured out with different colors of lipstick, but stuck to my hard and fast rule of Tom Ford lipstick only.  As I watched the Royal Wedding back in May, a couple of looks stuck out to me.  First, Harry's cousin Kitty Spencer looked fabulous... and one of the others was Amal Clooney... As the information started to trickle in about who wore what designer, etc., there was a commonality between these ladies... they both were wearing Charlotte Tilbury makeup.  I hopped online and did a little research and then headed off to the Charlotte Tilbury counter.  On my first visit, I bought lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow, but I received a sample of the Magic Foundation.  I couldn't believe how much I liked this foundation, and less than a week later, I trekked back to Nordstrom and purchased some. The Magic Foundation provides good coverage without feeling too heavy. ...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... Skincare 2017 Edition

I'm no Skincare expert, but I do like to buy beauty products.  It's been a LONG time since I have blogged about my favorites.  Some may be the same, some have changed.  Here is what I'm loving right now... I'm still using some of the Renee Rouleau products.  Over the past couple of years, I have used many of these products, but I'm down to two.  They repackaged last year, and along with looking different, you get less product for the same (or maybe even more?) money.  Which is a bummer, but the products are good.  They don't upset my face (I recently tried to go cheap with a Neutrogena set of cleanser and toner, and my face freaked out!) For a cleanser, I use the RR AHA/BHA Blemish Control with Salicylic Acid Face Wash .  That cheaper brand I bought a few weeks ago had all of those same ingredients, but my face is just too sensitive for that formula.  I've never had any trouble with RR, so back to the old faithful I went. (Note: I do use ...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... spend $ to save $$$

It's been forever since I posted a Confessions of a Product Junkie post, but don't think that means I'm a reformed product junkie!  I still love products, and today I'm sharing a way for you to get the most from your products. No matter how much I spend on the product, it makes me so mad when I see all the product left at the bottom of a bottle, or other type of container.  Now, if it's a tube the solution is easy.  Cut that tube open, and you can probably use it for days...just put it in a zip lock until you've actually used it all. If it's in a hard container, that option isn't possible, but here are 3 products you need in your life that will solve that problem.  These products may be available lots of places, but I got my at The Container Store, so I've linked to their website. This "large" mini spatula  is great for your foundation bottles, eye creams, serums, etc.  It even has a handy little side portion for getting under the li...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... Skin Care Fall 2015 Edition

Well, my skin decided to go haywire recently, so I decided to try a new skin care regime.  I went to Rene Rouleau Spa and tried a whole line of products.  They have 9 different skin types identified and then a line of products tailored to your type. I have still been using my basic Almay eye makeup remover pads, and CeraVe hydrating cleanser to remove makeup, but then I have been adding the following to my routine... I wash my face morning and night with this Gentle Gel Cleanser . I follow up with the Elderberry Toner both morning and night. They talked me into buying these Toning Cloths for the application of the toner.  Supposedly, it absorbs less of the product than cotton balls do, and thus you go through your product slower than if you used the cotton balls.  I haven't really figured out if you save money or not, because obviously these cost more than cotton balls.  I need to put some pencil to paper here and figure it out. ...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}...Fall 2015 Makeup Edition

So it's that time of year.  The time when I head to Neimans with good intentions of buying an item or two, and leave with my Neiman's card smoking instead.  I can't seem to help myself.  I like to refresh a couple of times a year.  I like to change it up. My first stop was at the Tom Ford counter.  Tom Ford is the God of Lipstick.  It's stupid expensive, and worth every single penny (in my opinion).  I can buy one tube and it lasts the entire season.  For fall, I purchased one of the new colors called "So Vain". They recommended a gloss to go over it called "Love Bruise".  Now as is often the case, I've been there and done that, but I was almost out of it.  I actually produced the tube of lip gloss I purchased in the spring, but had worn like a total of 3 times, so they just exchanged it with a new tube of Love Bruise.   (I love the TF gloss, but not over their Matte Lipsticks.  My spring/summer color was a Matte...Be for...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... a new hair diffuser for ALL hair types

My Devacurl diffuser was melting after a year + of use.  I wasn't pressured by this, as all of my diffusers have eventually ended up melting, but I started shopping around to see what else was out there, when I ran across this one... It's the  YS Park Large Diffuser .  This Japanese Company came out with this diffuser that actually blocks airflow, so you are only getting heat.  Apparently this diffuser was used all over New York Fashion Week on the models, so t his seems to be a diffuser that's not just for us curly haired people, but one used on all hair types.   What has me the most excited about this product is that it is light weight and small, and will fit on ANY hair dryer.  This will totally lighten up my packing in the future!  I can use the hotel hair dryer, and bring along this diffuser that is essentially like packing a sock!  I'm so excited to lighten my load for my upcoming European trip.  Lighter load = more roo...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... summer color

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?   While there is some dispute about whether the evil step mother was asking about beauty or a fair complexion, in this post case, we are definitely talking about the latter.  I went to the makeup counter several weeks ago, and you'd have thought a unicorn walked in and sat down in the make-up chair...I got "wow!  you are really the fairest of the fair!  do you plan on getting a tan?". I am super fair, but a weird fair, in that I can actually tan.  I just don't.  And I don't use fake tanning products because I seem to be allergic to them, and even if I could put up with the itching, they stink.   So, I need to get my summer color from somewhere, and that's what this post is all about... here is list of the products I'm using this summer for a little color. {Eye Shadow} I got this Tom Ford Cream and Powder eye shadow earlier this spring, and I LOVE IT.  Apparently lots of people...

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}....Curly Hair Products Update

Hello blog readers!  It's been a awhile!  I have just completed my 3rd week of a 5 week summer term where I am teaching 2 classes, which equates to being away from everything for approximately 20 hours a week between Monday-Thursday.  Couple that with my law practice, and well, that's where I've been for the last bit.  I think I have some exciting adventures to share this summer, so don't go anywhere! Today, I'm giving up update on my hair.  Not that any of you care about MY hair, but if anyone has curly, wavy, or even knows someone with either of those types of hair, hopefully this post can help you too! I wrote last summer about my own personal hair product apocalypse when most of my go-to products were discontinued and I was forced to find something that would work for my curly hair.  It's definitely been an example of where "one door closes, another door opens" or "all things happen for a reason" (or insert your preferred cliche here...
