February

Well, I didn't blog the whole month of February.  I think that may be the first time, I've gone an entire month.  There are no real great excuses for my absence, but I certainly find myself wondering where the entire month went.  I can't believe it's already time for Spring Break! Here is what I was up to in February... I got a new mattress... I love the mattresses that The Melrose in Georgetown has on their beds.  I mentioned this to my uncle, and since he works for the company that owns that hotel, he has the ability to order me the same mattress (at cost!). Lola and I had a big Valentine's Day.  I was ridiculously spoiled by my friends & family! Lola was spoiled too... I took Lola on lots of walks when the weather permitted We had several bad weather days... a sleet day, an ice day, and a couple of snow days.  Lola and I both enjoyed curling up under our Vera Bradley throw blanket I feel the need to bake on bad weat...

Ice-magedon 2013

The freezing rain and sleet started about 3:00 on Thursday.  By the end of the evening, everything had been cancelled for Friday.  I went to bed at about 12:15 and it was still falling. I woke up at 1:15 to the sound of a tree falling.  I'm my sleepy daze, I feared a Christmas tree had fallen over, but when I went to investigate and woke up a little, I realized that it was the sound of limbs breaking off my trees in the back yard.  I looked out and there was one limb down. When I woke up, I saw this winter war zone... I think my Elm is probably a complete loss. This one is still such a mess, who knows.  But I'm sure hopeful it can be saved. The roses's perfectly encased in ice... Luckily, I had electricity the whole time.  Lots of people did not.  I had some extra guests over the weekend.  Lisa and Mito came over because they didn't have power.  They toughed it out as long as the could, but when their house hit abo...

Where is Winter?

I know many people do not enjoy winter.  I am not one of those people.  I love cold weather.  I love grey days.  I love snow.  I love wearing coats and scarves.  I love wearing Uggs.  I love seeing my puppy in her polka dot sweater.  I love drinking hot chocolate, hot cider or hot tea without having to chase it with a glass of ice water.  So these 70 degree January days are just not up my alley.  I'm trying with all my might to will the winter here.  I am all decorated and ready for it. My front door My front yard flag (hard to see but the snow flakes are blingy) This new door banner is part of my post-Christmas shopping deals... There's No Place Like Snow! Again, hard to see, but it's glittery... Back yard flag... I guess even if winter eludes us here in North Texas this year, at least I'm decorated for it!
