Moving and Yard Work

Aside from trying my darnedest to hack up a lung or two the past couple of weeks, I've spent quite a bit of time doing two activities:  helping move people and yard work. Over the past month, I have helped 4 people move.  I have also tried to get my yard in order.  The two activities merged at the end of March.  My uncle moved into a brand new house.  His backyard was nicely set out in St. Augustine sod.  He was promptly going to have a pool company dig it all up, so I made a couple of trips down to Dallas and dug up 120 squares of grass and transplanted it to my yard.  I've needed to add some grass around the edge of my yard, and wanted to do this last year, but the drought was so bad, I decided to wait.  It was a lot of work, but I'm reaping the rewards already with less muddy paw prints when it rains. I also planted 3 knockout rose bushes in my front beds.  I'm tired of planting and re-planting every year.  They aren't ...

A Productive Day

Yesterday was a productive day!  I seem to have so few of those that I wanted to shout it from the rooftop!  I planted all of my new plants and got 4 loads of laundry done!  I was on fire, I'm telling ya! My eye is still watering, but I've found that being doped up on benadryl on top of my zyrtec seems to help the situation, but of course it also makes me comatose.  So that fact that I accomplished so much while in a Benadryl haze is even more impressive, don't you think? All the plants I bought this year were small, so they aren't too impressive right now.  Hopefully they will grow fast and look great soon. Here's a tour of my yard: ~Front Yard~ Ferns by the front door I've done this the past few years and they do really well here in this spot. I have 3 pots in front (to the left, to the right and in between my garage doors) This is the one to the right In the center To the Left I've had such trouble finding something that will work all summer...

5 Things

Here are 5 Things from my Tuesday (1) Today I have been constantly entertained by Stephen Colbert's tweets(@StephenAtHome).  They have all been about Jon Kyl and his ridiculousness... some of my favorites:   ~Jon Kyl developed his own line of hair care products just so he could test them on  bunnies. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement ~Jon Kyl can, and will, deny that you're a jolly good fellow. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement ~Jon Kyl is an accomplished nude hula dancer. He is not welcome in Hawaii. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement (2) Back in September 2008 when the Foo Fighters announced that they were calling it quits (for a while at least), and I was very sad.  But now, they have had their break and have a new album.  Yay!  Also love that they've been on Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show this week. (3) My. Eye. Is. Still. Watering.        Buckets 'o tears!   You know how when your...
