{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... New Makeup 2018

I had been using the same makeup pretty much across the board for some time.  I've ventured out with different colors of lipstick, but stuck to my hard and fast rule of Tom Ford lipstick only.  As I watched the Royal Wedding back in May, a couple of looks stuck out to me.  First, Harry's cousin Kitty Spencer looked fabulous...
and one of the others was Amal Clooney...

As the information started to trickle in about who wore what designer, etc., there was a commonality between these ladies... they both were wearing Charlotte Tilbury makeup.  I hopped online and did a little research and then headed off to the Charlotte Tilbury counter.  On my first visit, I bought lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow, but I received a sample of the Magic Foundation.  I couldn't believe how much I liked this foundation, and less than a week later, I trekked back to Nordstrom and purchased some.

The Magic Foundation provides good coverage without feeling too heavy.  In the Texas summer heat with high humidity, I hate to feel like my face is melting off.  I haven't felt that way with this foundation.  I wear color Number 2

When I went back to buy the foundation, I also purchased the Air Brush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder.  I've really liked it a lot too.
With both of these products I have felt like my face doesn't get shiny, and it stays on.  I REPEAT!  IT STAYS ON!  What totally sold me on these products was that when I wiped off my makeup 12-14 hours after applying it, it was still on my face (as evidenced below)...

On my first visit to the makeup counter, I got talked into the Pretty Youth Glow Filter.  I mean, who doesn't want a pretty youth glow?  It is a cream blush and highlighter combo and comes with the applicator brush.  It says it's "soft focus" and it really is, which means, you aren't going to over do it like you can with some cream blushes.
It comes in two colors sets.  I got this one.  It's called "Seduce"...

I originally went in to take a look at this eye pallet.  It's the Bigger Brighter Eye Palette. It's limited edition and this color combo is called Transformeyes.  They told me you didn't need to use a primer because it's built in.  I was skeptical, but I've been using without a primer, and I'm happy to report it stays on better than any eye shadow I can recall ever using.

Now, you know I didn't go in with the thought that I was going to buy lipstick.  I'm a devoted Tom Ford lipstick wearer.  Heck, I would join the fan club if there was one, but I heard that Charlotte helped Tom Ford develop his lipstick line, and that was enough for me to try it.

Unlike Tom Ford which doesn't recommend wearing a lip liner, Charlotte is all about the lip liner.  And if I was to be completely honest, I think I've missed it.  Charlotte matches her liners exactly to her lipstick shades.  I went with the color "Pillow Talk" in the Matte Revolution Luminous Modern-Matte Lipstick and in the Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner.
I bought this next product reluctantly.  The Collagen Lip Bath claims to be a slight lip plumper which I do not need at all, but I haven't really noticed that it plumps.  I do like the glossy look this adds, and I like that it's clear, so you can use it with any lip color and also that it doesn't change the lip color.  I've really only used it a couple of times, so I haven't made up my mind if this is a keeper or not.

Last time I stopped by the makeup counter I tried their under-eye concealer.  I think it may be a great product too, but I had just opened a new concealer that I've been using.  I will definitely try it when I run out.

Overall, I give Charlotte Tilbury two thumbs up.  I still can't get over how long wearing the products are.  I cannot recall another brand that has held up as well throughout the day.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau

Europe 2023 {Day 9 ~ Munich & Bavarian Alps}

 On Tuesday, December 20th I grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then walked about 15 minutes to where I met my tour for the day.  On my first visit to Munich, I only had time for one "day trip" outside of the city and I chose to go to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, but I always knew I wanted to venture down to the Bavarian Alps and see some castles on my next visit.  I had booked the premium tour and it was so fancy.  There was a snack bar and they even served beer and wine on the way home after the last stop of the day.  First stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was a "small" castle of King Ludwig's that was a partial mini-replica of Versailles.  It was a snowy walk to the castle... Interior photos were not allowed, but you can see some pics of the interior HERE Like Versailles, there are fountains and sculptures surrounding Linderhof, but they cover the statues with wood huts to protect them from the winter elements. After visiting Linderhof, we made a (to

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches... Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew... It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an &quo
