The Sky Is Falling

Lisa stopped by my house on Saturday night to pick up her share of the Lemon Cupcakes I had made. I have to dole them out to everyone I know so that I don't eat all that I make, because I don't have the heart to throw them away.

Anyway, I was of course at the Bon Jovi concert and she let herself in. I get this text saying "something had shattered" in the kitchen, "maybe a light bulb". I immediately text back and ask if Lola is okay. Lisa said yes, she checked her paws and there were no cuts and that she had swept up the mess.

Then I started thinking... "maybe a light bulb"? How in the heck wouldn't you be able to tell if a light bulb had exploded. I mean heck, it wouldn't be illuminated, so it should be fairly obvious. Then I spent a fair amount of time worrying about whether there could still be a spark or a short and burn the house down. While a house burning down is BAD, of course my largest concern about this is Lola getting out. Anyway, I tried not to worry about it and really, once the concert got started, I was focusing elsewhere.

When I got home, Lola immediately acted traumatized. I picked her up and held her for a minute...hugging and kissing her the whole time (now the fact that she let me pick her up and hold her without growling is a sign she was a little scared because she doesnt' like being held). I went to the kitchen to investigate and sure enough, it was the darn light bulb.

See, I have these "new" kind that are suppose to be energy efficient, but I really hate them for various reasons. They have the little coil thing inside, but then are disguised to look like a real light bulb...

Now here is the one that "exploded"...

See, all the glass that surrounded it had exploded...

Thankfully nobody cut their paws!  I'm sure it scared poor Lola to death! I'm certain she thought, "The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling!".

On another note, I FINALLY watched Inglorious Basterds yesterday. I've had the darn movie since December 31st and just kept putting off watching it because frankly I don't like Quentin Tarantino movies. Oh My Gosh! I so, SO LOVED IT! It was bloody and violent as to be expected, but so freakin' hysterical. Loved Brad Pitt's character. Loved Brad Pitt. I watched it so that I could finally send it back and get another movie on Netflix, but I may have to watch it again!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
