34 in 5

Yep.  The countdown is on.  I'll be 34 in 5 days.  Ugh.

Anyway, my parents are buys next weekend, so my Mom and her parents came to town yesterday for an early birthday lunch.  We went to Pappadeux and it was yummy as usual.  Then we watched football & baseball games the rest of the afternoon...oh except when we made a quick trip to the Ann Taylor Outlet store for my grandmother and mom to do a little shopping.

My grandma made me a birthday cake.  Just so you know, my grandma is one of the greatest cake makers in the world.  My favorites are German Chocolate, Italian Cream, and Angel Food Cake.  I wish you could try them all.  They are to die for.  I know you're thinking, Angel Food?  Trust me when I say that you have never had an Angel Food Cake until you've had her's.  It is seriously a life changing experience.
Anyway, I was asked a few days ago to choose my poison.  I really can't choose between those three scrumptious cakes.  Despite my love for the Angel Food, I finally narrowed it down to the ethnic cakes...German or Italian because they both freeze so well.  I figured I could freeze part of it and eat it for weeks to come so that I didn't waist a crumb.

I got the Italian Cream Cake.  Yum!

In other news, I reached my goal!  What goal?  To start exercising?  Lose weight?  To save money?  Kept house straight during the week?  Not let laundry pile up until it reaches the ceiling?  No, something really important...I watched all the back seasons of One Tree Hill via Netflix!  I am now watching the current season's episodes that's I've been DVRing.  Yea!

That cake totally looks yum! When I turned 35 last November I made a list of "35 things I want to do while I am 35." It has been fun.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
