5 Things

Here are 5 Things from my Tuesday
(1) Today I have been constantly entertained by Stephen Colbert's tweets(@StephenAtHome).  They have all been about Jon Kyl and his ridiculousness...

some of my favorites:

~Jon Kyl developed his own line of hair care products just so he could test them on  bunnies. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement

~Jon Kyl can, and will, deny that you're a jolly good fellow. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement

~Jon Kyl is an accomplished nude hula dancer. He is not welcome in Hawaii. #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement

(2) Back in September 2008 when the Foo Fighters announced that they were calling it quits (for a while at least), and I was very sad.  But now, they have had their break and have a new album.  Yay!  Also love that they've been on Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show this week.

(3) My. Eye. Is. Still. Watering.        Buckets 'o tears!   You know how when your nose runs constantly the skin under your nose gets raw and irritated?  Yeah, well, the skin around my right eye is that way!

(4) I FINALLY made it to the nursery today.  I went without a plan.  My plan became grabbing this and that until my cart was full.  Coleus, Perilla Magilla, Pink Angel Wing Begonias, White Baby Wing Begonias, Sweet Potato Vines, Pink Wave Petunias, Spikes, Bacopa, Plumosa Fern, Asparagus Fern & Maverick Geraniums, oh my!  I think I finally made some sense of what I bought and plan to do the actual planting tomorrow.

(5) I decided today my job wouldn't be too bad without clients.  You see the irony here right?  I wouldn't really have a job without clients, but they are what makes my life total suck-o sometimes!  Ugh!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love  Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts.

I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.

Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)...

Here's the Phase 1ingredients... Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too) I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 because I use my yogurt cup as a meas…

It's all about the dress...

I mean I guess it's really all about getting married, but come on, you always anticipate the dress right?  Well holy moly folks!  Today a big secret was released to the press.  No, we still don't know which dress or tiara Kate will be wearing, but we heard for the first time that Princess Diana had a back-up dress!  Here are some of the pictures and sketches...

Real dress on Left~ Back-up on the Right Here are the sketches of the back-up dress

And you know what?  I like the back-up dress better than the one she wore!  I know, I know.  I'm going to get blasted for saying that, but I'll just confess it right now... My name is Kara and I've never thought Princess Diana's dress was all that and a bag of chips.  Nope.  Not my favorite Royal Wedding Dress by any stretch of the imagination.  What is my favorite?  Probably the one that Sarah Ferguson wore when she married Andrew...
It had beautiful beading and stitching throughout.  Also on the train it had an "A&quo…

Pumpkins, Gourds & Flowers, oh my!

Yesterday, I went to the Dallas Arboretum.  Lisa, Jennifer, and I went as my birthday outing.  We got a late start due to some court delays, so we stopped for lunch first.  I needed some make-up too, so we went to Neimans.  We ogled some purses, had lunch, I got some make-up and then we headed out to the arboretum (in the rain).

It was raining pretty good on the way over, but luckily, we only needed umbrellas for a few minutes.  Thankfully the sun never came out, because it was so humid, I'm pretty sure we would have melted.

First, we made our way toward the Pumpkin Village...

I love how they made garland out of the mini-pumpkins...

These rose bushes were just stunning!  The roses on each bush varied in color from a coral, to a blush, to a purple hue...
It was Fall at the arboretum, and pumpkins, gourds, and mums are a large part of the visit.  However, they also have a Chihuly art exhibition going on.  I took so many pictures, I HAVE to make that it's whole separate post.  …
