Jubilee

It's time for the Diamond Jubilee!

I'm so excited!  No, I mean that I'm really, really excited.  Probably the excitement level around here is on par, or dare I say even higher, that it was for the Royal Wedding last year.

I meant to plan a party.  But most normal people aren't as excited about the Jubilee as they were about the wedding.  I'm still going to throw a party, even if Lola and I are the only attendants!  More on that next week, I'm sure.

If you need to get yourself in a Jubilee kind of mood, you should consult my I Love All Things British  Pinterest board for inspiration.

If you have no idea what the Jubilee is about, here's the scoop:  It's celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's 60 years as monarch.  The reason why it's a big deal:  It's 60 years!  Only Queen Victoria has ever celebrated a Diamond Jubilee, so it's a big dang deal!  Just FYI:  Victoria served 63 years and 216 days, while QEII has served 60 years, 116 days (as of today).

There are loads of events planned and if only I could Bewitch-nose-twitch myself anywhere in the world this next weekend and coming week, it would be to London to enjoy the celebration.  On Sunday there is the flotilla down the Thames.  You can catch it on BBC America or on CNN (beginning at 10 a.m. CST).

On Tuesday, in the wee hours of the morning, BBC America will be broadcasting the Service of Thanksgiving & Royal Procession in 3 parts, while CNN will show part of it from 8-10 a.m. CST.

ABC has obtained exclusive rights to the Concert for the Queen and will air that on Tuesday evening.  I think that Good Morning America will also be in London some next week.

Let's celebrate the Queen!

I just found out about this the other day, and could not be more pumped up! It isn't up there with the royal wedding... but close. Perhaps the pup can have some Royal Canin brand treats to celebrate.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
