Today, the country remembers a tragedy from 50 years ago. I have been engrossed in all the television specials commemorating the assassination of a President so many years ago. I think this is such an important time, because this is the last "big commemoration" where we will be able hear from the aging doctors, reporters, secret service agents, etc. who have such intimate knowledge of the events from November 22, 1963. For so many of us, we only know these dark days of our history from stories told by our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. For me, I know my Mom talks about sitting in her elementary school class and hearing the announcement. She talks about how terrible they all felt because the President had been killed in Texas. My great-grandmother always told how she heard the news while she was in the beauty salon getting her hair done because they were suppose to be attending an event with Kennedy that night.
