Happy Holidays! {I LOVE CHRISTMAS CARDS}

I love Christmas Cards!  I spend so much time thinking about my card (I usually begin brain storming in the summer!).  This year I went with brush strokes on canvas design. This is the front (the gold line around the edge actually wasn't visible in the real hard copy of the card, but was needed to keep the top of the Duomo and the bottom of my chin from being cut off in the final cropped version) The Back Happy Holidays!

A Little Unplanned Guest Room Makeover

Anyone else ever accidentally do a room makeover?  I started an unplanned makeover of my guest room back in late summer and I am really happy with how it turned out! It all started at a Dillard's sale.  I saw some indoor/outdoor Lilly Pulitzer throw pillows marked down.  They turned out to be not quite as cheap as I had originally hoped because they had been put on the wrong markdown table, but then the sales guy called the manager and got permission to give them to me for the better price.  SCORE! They reverse to this... So I got 4 Lilly throw pillows for super cheap and had plans to use them outside until everyone said "Are you crazy?!?!?!".  I decided to use them in my guest room because I thought it would be a pretty easy transition. In my guest room I have a daybed that I got for my birthday when I was in 1st grade.  When I moved into my house in 2005, I bought a white matelassé bedding from Pottery Barn and used it with some colorful printed pillows s

Feeling Like Fall Should HURRY UP Already!

We are less than a week out from October and I am feeling like Fall needs to hurry it the heck up!  I guess I should be grateful that the 10 day forecast appears to be in the 80's (with heat index in the 90's I assume) instead of the upper 90's and feeling over 100', but I'm too busy dreaming of cooler temps. I've geared up for Fall and I'm ready to wear something other than what I've been wearing since April.  Since we have a little way to go, I'll show you some new Fall items I've purchased for wearing now, and some for when my cooler temps really come... The first thing you can transition to Fall in Texas is makeup.  Yes, you may still sweat it off, but you can at least sweat off a new Fall pallet of colors.  I have far too much makeup, so I was good and didn't buy any new eye colors, but I did buy 3 new colors of my favorite lipstick in the world.  I've said it before, but Tom Ford is the king of lipsticks.  They are stupid expen

My favorites from Hello Fresh

As I told you back in May, I've been getting Hello Fresh.  As of today, I will receive my 15th Hello Fresh box.  I originally tried it because I got a coupon code for $40 off my first box.  There was no commitment, so I decided I would try 6 meals (3 different meals for 2 people) for $19.98.  I really loved it, and then started getting it on the weeks when there were 3 meals that week I was really jazzed about.  Now, I get it whether there are 3 I'm jazzed about or not.  It's so easy, a good value, and so good. Now my only complaint is that some weeks there are 6 options I REALLY want to try, and then the next week there are only 2 I REALLY want.  But that's just a me issue.  As far as real complaints, anytime I've ever received any produce that wasn't up to snuff, they gave me a credit to my account to make up for it. I've really loved many of the 45 recipes I've made so far, but some of my favorite recipes were easy ways to tweak tried and true thi

{Confessions of a Product Junkie}... Skincare 2017 Edition

I'm no Skincare expert, but I do like to buy beauty products.  It's been a LONG time since I have blogged about my favorites.  Some may be the same, some have changed.  Here is what I'm loving right now... I'm still using some of the Renee Rouleau products.  Over the past couple of years, I have used many of these products, but I'm down to two.  They repackaged last year, and along with looking different, you get less product for the same (or maybe even more?) money.  Which is a bummer, but the products are good.  They don't upset my face (I recently tried to go cheap with a Neutrogena set of cleanser and toner, and my face freaked out!) For a cleanser, I use the RR AHA/BHA Blemish Control with Salicylic Acid Face Wash .  That cheaper brand I bought a few weeks ago had all of those same ingredients, but my face is just too sensitive for that formula.  I've never had any trouble with RR, so back to the old faithful I went. (Note: I do use store brand face

Packing & Travel Tips

The good news is, you are going to Europe, anything you forget, you can buy there.  That being said, I like to be as prepared as possible, because who wants to spend vacation time trying to buy a plug adapter? These are some things I like to always pack for a trip to Europe: Adapters vs. Converters An Adapter makes our US plugs fit into their different shaped plugs, while a converter actually changes the voltage for our US products.  For the most part, adapters are all you will need in today's times because most of our plugs are ok to use with a range of voltage.  iPhones, camera chargers, etc. generally work with an adapter only.  The way to tell is to look at the writing on the back of your charger.  If it has a range, then it is good for those voltages.  Adapters are relatively cheap and can be purchased at travel/luggage stores, or even just on Amazon.  I google the place I'm going, and find out what type of plugs they have.  Be aware that it can change from cou
