Do you have cord chaos at your house?  I think it is the worst byproduct of our electronic world.  Yeah, yeah...some would say texting while driving is the worst, but it's not that bad, just ask Rick Perry!  (cash in my smart-ass political comment allowance for the first half of the year).  Anyway, I had cords everywhere.  Camera cords, phone cords, ipod cords, Nook cords, earbuds, etc.  I had purchased a little box at the container store, but everything was still a mess and I could never find anything.  Cord chaos isn't just an at-home problem either.  Travel anywhere today and you've got to haul along all those cords, plus some additional ones for GPS, etc. Before I went to Arizona, I decided I was going to get something to organize my cords while traveling.  Vera Bradley has a cute little case for such things, but it doesn't even begin to contemplate the number of cords I'm hauling around.  So I decided to hit up the make-up aisle...

Have y'all tried this stuff? I'd seen it, but hadn't tried it until today.   It's a zero calorie "water enhancer".  Of course, we'll probably find out in 5 years that it causes cancer, but until then, I think I like it.  In my opinion, it's way better than Crystal Light. You squeeze as much or as little into your water as you want. I only bought Fruit Punch today, but I'm now interested in the other flavors... I haven't blogged in forever.  You see, last week, my week was all planned out.  It was going to be pretty busy.  Then on Tuesday night about 11:15, my week was hijacked. Jennifer, my law partner called.  She was in labor.  2 weeks earlier than her scheduled c-section.  Also 2 weeks earlier than family was to arrive to take care of Joshua.  I got out of bed, loaded up Lola and headed out to where she lives (about 30 minutes away).  I stayed with sleeping Joshua while she went to the hospital.  We thought they'd just go ahead and do the c-section.  We thought wrong.  They gave her medicine to stop the contractions. She got back home about 7:15 on Wednesday morning, and I went ahead and took Joshua to pre-school and proceeded to do both of our jobs that day.  Then around 12:30 she called and her water had broken.  She did have the baby that afternoon, so I went to pick up Joshua from school and took him to meet his baby ...

I posted this recipe a couple of years ago; however, I made it yesterday and thought I'd bring it back.  It is really becoming a summertime favorite! Take your choice of fruit (I usually choose to use primarily berries).  Sprinkle them with a little bit of sugar and then drizzle them with limoncello (you could skip the limoncello if needed to, but if you don't need to, then use it, it's yummy!). Let that goodness sit for a few minutes stirring it a couple of times to coat the fruit. While that is sitting, mix up the following in another bowl: 7 ounces plain greek yogurt 1/3 cup Lemon Curd 1 Tablespoon Honey 1/3 teaspoon vanilla Then you pour the yogurt mixture over the berries and enjoy! A great summery dessert that only takes 5 minutes to prepare and doesn't require turning your oven on and heating up the house. Recipe originally from the Barefoot Contessa

Old Shopping Proverb:  When you are looking for something you will never find it.  When you aren't looking, you will hit the jackpot. I have found some good shopping deals over the past few days and even some that I will categorize as steals.  Of course, I got sucked into the Bath & Body Works annual June sale.  I got some deals.  Most of it is going in my gift closet. I then stopped by Ann Taylor Outlet store.  I was actually making a payment on my Ann Taylor card because I didn't get it sent off in the mail early enough, and didn't want it to be late.  While in there, I noticed that they had an additional 40% off their clearance section.  Now the last 60 times I've gone looking for dress pants, I've had zero luck.  But I thought, Well since I'm not really looking, maybe I'll find some .  And woo-hoo, I did!  I got these three pair of pants... The brown and black dress pants (left & center) were normally $80 each....

Man am I glad it's Friday!  That's a normal sentiment that I have on a weekly basis, but today I mean it more than usual.  This being the first week of Summer school, and having class 4 nights in a row have really whipped me!  Plus it's been a very busy week in my "real world" of practicing law.  Yeah for the weekend! Yes, I seem to feel the need for a weekend from my weekend!  It started out fine on Friday.  I was running some errands and planned to finally hit up the grocery store.  Then I came home between errands and noticed that there was some sort of leak in my attic and my ceiling was wet.  Total suck-o.  I went into the attic.  Couldn't really see what was the problem, though I suspected my air conditioner.  Later that evening, Jennifer, her husband Kyle, and little Joshua came over to inspect my problem.  Joshua (age 3 1/2) immediately proclaimed, "Kara, you have a BIG PROBLEM!".  Nothing like a child to state the obvious!  Turns out it was the A/C related.  Long story short, there was a clogged pipe for the condensation drainage, problem fixed, except now I have to paint my ceiling.  Lord help me.  I pray I can just paint the one discolored portion.  The leak was in the living room, which is connected to my entry a...

Berries~ I'm not a fan of many different scents.  I probably have mentioned that before.  That being said, I'm obsessed with a Bath & Body Works hand soap!  It's one of their "Patriotic Scents" and it is called Blueberry Pancake... I'm totally loving it.  They have these Patriotic Hand Soaps for $3 too, so it's a pretty sweet deal.  I do think that the Apple Pie scented ones are cuter looking (plus I like the Red better), but I personally didn't like the scent as well. Here is a post to show the fruits of my labor from last weekend at my parents' house.  I am so ready for this remodel project to be over.  I think that when all is said and done, every single stinking room will have been at least painted.  Whew! This past weekend, I painted the Utility Room/Exercise Room/Tanning Bed Room.  It has always been white on white.  White cabinets and white walls.  Boring!  For some reason, for the past many years since we have lived there (we moved when I was in 3rd grade and I'm 34, so you do the math), we haven't even had hardware on the cabinets.  Recently, my Mom painted the cabinets the same color (Ralph Lauren Oatmeal) that we painted the kitchen cabinets back in December.  They also recycled the hardware that we took off the kitchen cabinets and put them on the utility cabinets.  Then this weekend, I did away with the white walls... my mom would probably want me to tell you that i forgot to take a "be...

Day 6~ Thursday morning started early.  If you will recall, I had spent the night in Page, AZ.  I had an early morning tour of Antelope Canyon.  Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon.  Slot canyons are canyons that are created by flash floods.  Antelope Canyon is on a Navajo reservation, so I had book a trip with a Navajo group.  It did not begin at all like I expected...on a monster truck!  Turns out monster trucks are a necessity because of all the sand you have to drive through.  It was a bit more adventure than I bargain for.  Riding down the highway at 60 mph in the back of a monster truck when the temps are in the 40's is a wee bit chilly! As I mentioned, these canyons are carved out by flash floods.  So I had read that if there is even a chance of rain, they won't let you go.  They are even more cautious now because 11 photographers died there in 1997 when they got caught in the rain.  Now if you'll notice in the above ...
