Downtown

Here are some photos from my trip to Downtown Puerto Vallarta on Saturday:

This is the first of many photos I took of the Parish of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe church
And another one...
Last year, the crown was under restoration, but it was completed this year. It is very beautiful. The crown is "held" in place by angels. It is a replica of one worn by Empress Carlota during her brief time in Mexico as Emperor Maximilian's wife. If you want more history than that, get a history book. I have no idea. That is all my guide book tells me.
As you wonder through Puerto Vallarta, it is very hilly and you can just look up and find yourself at eye level with the crown. I didn't do quite that much walking around this year, but I did last year and it was really cool.

Here is one last shot
Puerto Vallarta is in the Sierra Madres. It is really one of the reasons I love P.V. so much.
Isn't it beautiful?
In my post about shopping the other day, I made a big to do about locating the store and getting more glasses. I'm sure that you probably thought, yeah yeah, big deal, way to go to the exact store you were at last year and buy some glasses. I may have failed to mention that the challenge came from the fact that I didn't know the name of the store and I didn't remember which street it was located on.
Here is the inside of the store. Yes, that is an open air portion right in the middle of the store. I have no idea what happens when it rains or worse, when there is a hurricane. Isn't it charming? And of course, there are the glasses awaiting wrapping.
Here are the ladies from "Querubines" (that is the name of the store...I grabbed a business card this year!). They wrap the glasses so well that I'm always certain that they would survive a plane crash, whether I would or not!
As requested, here is a photo of the glasses. They don't photograph well, but you can kind of tell that they have etched flowers in the glass. The ones on the left are from last year, and the right side is this year's model.

There are lots of glasses in Puerto Vallarta and even if you look hard, you can find some this same color, but I have NEVER seen any with the etched pattern in the glass.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
