A New "Thing"

Everyone had "things" right? Maybe you call them quirks. *Lord I hope everyone has at least one, otherwise, I've just outed myself as a total weirdo!* I have several "things". I want all my towels folded a particular way. I want them all rotated in a particular way. I used to have a "thing" about having my sheets ironed. (Cancel the reservation for me in the asylum...I said I used to do this!).

Well apparently I have a "thing" for not letting my low fuel light come on. Here is a photo of the state of my gas tank right now.
I believe that most women drive until this little light comes on. Most of my friends do and I always hear guys complain about getting in their wife's car and it being on empty. I like to usually fill up when I hit the half a tank mark or when I have 1/4 of a tank left. Somehow the above has happened! I realized that this is a new "thing" for me because as I drove home from Frisco tonight, I had a tightness in my chest every single time I looked at it!

I know it is kind of weird to fill up when you aren't even near empty, but I guess I just want to be ready to make a run for it. You know, I don't want to be in a situation where I need to go somewhere quickly and have to stop and get gas first.

I guess if you need to go on the lamb, you know who to call to drive you (just not tonight).

I always wait to fill up until the light comes on. I hate getting gas so I basically wait till the last minute.

I fill up when I'm at about a quarter or third of a tank...usually. I have a very good reason for not letting it get to the light though. My Mom almost always did growing up! She had a talking car once and between the light and the car reminding her constantly that she was low on fuel, she would still take it down to FUMES! I distinctly remember driving home to California from a trip up to Oregon and Washington (I think we were in Oregon when this happened) with her and my brother. My brother and I had fallen asleep and I awoke to Mom craning her neck, smiling, and not saying a word. I knew that look. I knew she had to be really low on gas. I did not realize she had past low ages ago and was even past fumes.....when she found a gas station in the middle of nowhere, she LITERALLY coasted the car in....on no gas! SO, I have a built in state of fear of running out of gas! :>

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
