Last night was the long awaited Bon Jovi concert. For a little background, I've loved Bon Jovi since about 1985. I was pretty sure I was going to marry Jon Bon Jovi (you know way back when I was like 9). The fact that he was an unusual rock start and has stayed married to the same woman for the bulk of that time is I'm sure the only reason that scenario didn't work out for me.
Anyway, I was a Bon Jovi, Gun N Roses, rock lovin' girl and my parents not so much. It's not that they didn't take me to concerts because they did...Reba, George Strait, Willie Nelson, etc. I knew there was no way in the world they were ever going to drive to Dallas for a Bon Jovi concert, so I'm not really sure that I ever asked. But I did plot in my mind. I plotted that when I grew up, I was totally going to every Bon Jovi concert that came to Dallas.
I have attempted to go to all since graduating from Law School and moving to the Dallas area. I missed one because it basically sold out in pre-sale. This time, I was going to make my 3rd Bon Jovi concert come hell or high water, so I did what I needed to do so that I could get in on pre-sale. On the morning the pre-sale started, I secured Suzanna and I tickets. Then wouldn't you know they decided to open a second Sunday show sometime later!
I also have to tell you that I spent the evening being so bummed that I could not take in my "good" camera. They had said no cameras with over a 3 inch lens and then they didn't really even search our purses. I could have totally smuggled it in!!! And if I had had my "good" camera...oh baby! I could have gotten some awesome shots of Jon & Richie and the rest of the gang! But instead I had my point and click and it seems that when there is that much action going on, my little point and click is a little confused about what to focus on. For every 10 shots I took, I got about 1-2 "good" ones. Folks I'm too embarrassed to tell you how many shots I actually took (over 350, but don't tell anyone). At some point I did remember that my p&c camera also shot video. You will be SO glad to know that in my deleting the bad photos process last night, I managed to delete most of the videos (thus you won't have the option of watching the whole concert here now!).
Here is your walk through the concert. I promise, you'll feel like you were there yourself. If you didn't want to go, I'm sorry.
Here, you can tell that I got the video taping while screaming down, holding the camera still, not quite so much. Warning, you may want to take some Dramamine before you view it!
If I haven't completely worn you out and you give a darn, here is the set from our show:

Here we are. Anxiously awaiting the Boys from Jersey!
The first 4 songs went out on the Internet live via UStream.
Then they did something really cool...They shot the video for their upcoming single "When We Were Beautiful" at OUR concert! Here is a sneak peek of what you will see on VH1...
Some Richie Sambora for you...
At some point, they all 4 came down to the stage that was kind of out in the audience for a kind of acoustical session 4-5 songs...At this point, I believe Suz and I were debating whether Jon has had any "work done" because he still looks so pretty, or if he is really an ad for "this is what you will look like if you do drugs, and THIS is what you will look like if you don't do drugs"...
Part of the Encore... Post "Runaway". Can you guess the song? Let me sing a little for you...
Wanted, Waaaaaannnnnted, Dead or Alive....
Well I walk these streets, with a six string on my back...
(This is me, singing along still)
The End of the show.
It was so much fun!
Now, you didn't think that was all did you?
Here is the piece de resistance(s)...
My videos.
Let me just give an editorial comment first: It's very, very, very hard to video, sing, yell and jump around like a teenager, all at the same time.

This is one of my favorites. I had been watching the set lists from other shows like a crazy person and had seen that they sometimes did this and sometimes not. Lucky me, they did it last night! It is a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". I had heard them do it once on a concert that I saw via the tv, so getting to hear Jon belt it out in person was beyond awesome... (it's a long song, so here is the end part of the song).
