Whoops!

So remember back when I posted about my replanting project in my front yard. If not, you can click HERE and read all about it. You will recall that I had planted a couple of hydrangeas because they were one of my top two favorite kind of flowers. Problem is, that I bought them on a whim while at Lowe's. I hadn't done my research. Turns out that I had purchased a "floral grade" of a hydrangea, not a plant in your yard and it does well type of hydrangea. Whoops!

Today, after doing some research, I dug up those two (dead) hydrangeas, returned them to Lowe's and went to a "real nursery" and bought two new hydrangeas. I think these are going to winners! They are part of the Endless Summer collection (meaning they will bloom all summer). There are three varieties in the Endless Summer collection:

The Original which looks like this

Twist and Shout that looks like this

Blushing Bride that looks like this

After much hemming and hawing, I decided to buy two of the Originals. Here is what they look like right now...

About to explode with blooms...

They will be blue this year, but in the soil around here, they apparently tend to turn pink, so it is likely that next year they will be pink like this...

I have a very real desire for the other ones too. Several of the other ones.  I think that they would go perfect right here...

Imagine this shady corner, that won't grow grass for anything, covered in shrub after shrub of hydrangeas...the lacy bloom of a pink Twist and Shout, the beautiful blush of a Blushing Bride. I am going to dream about this until next year, when I will have saved up and can plant a hydrangea garden that I'm certain will change my life!

Beautiful! I have one in my garden and it's the only flowering plant that actually grows for me. Our soil here in Dallas is not the best. :( I just noticed yesterday that the pink blooms are peeking out and it gets so full and colorful! Love it!!

Europe 2024 {Day 10 ~ Munich, Germany}

On December 22nd, I departed Salzburg train station at 8:00 and arrived in Munich at 9:40.  The station is under construction and a real mess!  I finally made my way out and found it was really raining.  I made my way to a taxi and took it to my hotel.  My hotel room wasn't ready but they kept my bags for me and I headed out.   I have been to Munich a couple of times and wanted to see a couple of things I haven't had a chance to do before.  I planned to to go to the Nazi Documentation Center first since it was raining, but when I looked it up on my phone to double check the hours, I learned they had just closed for renovations.  So rain or not, I was going to have to head out to Nymphemburg Palace.  I took the tram out and then walked to the palace. I don't know why, but I didn't take many pictures on the inside. I also bought a ticket to the Royal Stables Museum which houses lots of coaches. I really found all the sleighs to be a sight to see, bu...
