NOLA Day Two {last Saturday}

Saturday began at Cafe Du Monde for breakfast.  Abby and I were wearing our team shirts and supporting from afar, but more about that later...

Yum!

Then we started our never-ending walk!

We walked down to the Aquarium and stopped in to view "The Grand Canyon" on 3-D Imax.  I think it was the first time I've ever seen a 3-D movie.  After our movie we went into the aquarium.

This is an exhibit that shows how the offshore drilling makes Artificial Reefs for all the fish...

It's set up to look like a drilling platform...

It seemed to be less realistic than in the past because it's missing giant oil plumes...

I wasn't able to get a good picture of my favorite part of the Aquarium, the otters, but I did get an adorable video of one of the otters eating his snack of shrimp...

After the Aquarium, we made the walk up to Acme Oyster for lunch. 

We had a super nice waitress who noticed my Texas Tech shirt and said her son was a student there!

We had these great crawfish puppies...

Then we went on a walking tour of the Quarter...

We walked ourselves back down to the River Center area.  We were sitting in the plaza by the fountains when a little bitty girl began slowly approaching us. She said something that we could barely make out, but we thought she said something about Texas Tech.  We turned around to where her parents were and they gave us a guns up.  They said they had lived in Lubbock for a while and she recognized my shirt.

We walked through the River Center until we thought we couldn't walk any longer, so we made a pitstop in this joint...

My foot is bruised!

They were a little rough with us, but it did enable us to be able to walk home and make a pit stop at Anthropology on the way.  While in Anthropology, people kept asking us what the score was on the LSU/Mississippi game.  We of course, were keeping up with A&M's score and other Big 12 games on my ESPN Scorecenter App, but we had no idea about their SEC game.  We also couldn't figure out why they kept stopping us until we realized people weren't reading the "A&M" on Abby's shirt and were just focusing on the fact that they were Mississippi colors!

We went to dinner on Saturday night at my favorite New Orleans restaurant (and now Abby's favorite too), K-Paul's

We had this glorious Corn & Shrimp Maque Choux...

Words cannot describe how good it was.  I think I located the recipe in my Chef Paul's cookbook, so I hope to replicate it soon.  We also had the House Salads with their famous Green Onion Dressing that I love so much.  I also have the recipe for that, so I'll need to do a recipe post soon.

For the main course, I stepped outside of my "normal" dish and ordered this fish topped with shrimp and all sorts of yumminess (can't find the description online, so that's the best I can do)

Abby got my "normal" and was kind enough to share a few bites with me, so I wouldn't miss out on my favorite!  This is the Blackened Stuffed Pork Chop Marchand de Vin.  A Tender Pork Chops Stuffed with Ricotta, Asiago, Mozzarella & Caciocavello Cheese & Fresh Basil, then Seasoned and Blackened in a Cast Iron Skillet and Served with a Marchand de Vin Sauce of Prosciutto Ham, Red Wine and Mushrooms. Served with a Stuffed Potato and Veggies

For dessert, we had Bread Pudding, but I think we were so stuffed we forgot to take a photo!

We headed back to finish watching the end of my football  game and crashed in the room afterward because we had wallked 379 miles that day!
