It's A Birthday Party!

Since today is the day that I'm turning 34 (ugh!), I've decided that I'm throwing a birthday party.  Put down your keys...I'm not talking about a real live, you show up to my door birthday party, but a blog birthday party.

I really think that my favorite aspect to any party is actually the planning, so this blog party thing is really the perfect situation for me.  You see, I get to pick out invitations, cakes, etc., but I don't have to (1) pay for it, (2) clean my house for company, (3) do party food prep, or (4) clean up all the mess after the party.

So Welcome to my imaginary birthday party...

You would be receiving one of these two invitations (with the appropriate message of course)

or
It's a given that I will be serving cupcakes to go along with the Peace, Love, Cupcakes theme, but I think I'd also like to have a big cake.

It would look something like this...
But it will need a little tweaking.  I'm not a one-brand gal anymore, so the products will need to also include some Armani, Trish McEvoy, Laura Mercier, Nars, Le Metier, Urban Decay, Lorac and Chanel to be technically accurate!

Thanks for coming to my blog birthday party!

Put a hold on the guys with the butterfly net...I haven't completely flipped my lid!  In all seriousness, I actually think that I have a delightful day planned, except the part where I have to get up way too early and leave my house at 6:30 a.m. to go teach two classes.  It's made even better because Jennifer is going to court to deal with one of our biggest pain-in-the-you-know-what clients and not making me come along as part of my birthday present!  I'll report more about my birthday activities tomorrow.

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau
