Y'all remember that I was super into the Royal Wedding last year? (If you are new to the blog, I had a little shindig). I'm thinking that I may have to repurpose some of the decorations and have a Diamond Jubilee party this June!
I know it's not as popular of a celebration for the mainstream folks out there, but for this Anglophile, I'm kind of obsesses with the plans. Though there are several events planned, the grandest event is a 1000 boat flotilla which will travel down the Thames. Boris, London's mayor, has promised that it is going to be grander than the summer Olympics (which are taking place in London town as well).

In case you are wondering what in the heck the Diamond Jubilee is all about, it is to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 60 years as the monarch (she hits 60 years on February 6th, but the celebration is planned for June). She is currently the second longest serving Monarch in British history (her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria served for 63 years, 216 days).
Like all Royal celebrations, there are keepsakes to be purchased, in the form of China. Here's a view of the collection...
I love this tea cup and saucer...
I think I will have to make my way to the British Emporium and at least purchase a tea towel to mark the occasion. Anyone want to come to a Jubilee party? We can pop in my copy of Will's & Kate's wedding DVD if things get boring.
