My Weekend in South Texas

I left out on Saturday morning at the crack of dawn and headed south.  Originally, I had booked a flight south, but that kind of turned into an all around fiasco, so I cancelled my flight and drove instead.  I made a quick stop at the Burberry outlet in Round Rock.  I didn't buy a thing, but never fear, I moved on to the San Marcos outlets for a speed round version of a shop-a-thon.

I met my friend Robin there and we hit up Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Tory Burch, Prada, Gucci, Vera Bradley & Kate Spade (oh my!).  More on my purchase to come in another post.

After I was out of money tired, I headed to El Campo to see some of my favorite people.  I stayed with my friend Abby and her family until today.  We had a pretty relaxed weekend.  They did have the traveling Vietnam Wall in town, which we visited.

Emery and the wall...

We had a big celebration for this guy...

Bailey turned 12 on Saturday.  I cannot believe he is 12.  I remember when we was a wee little pup!  We made a cake for the humans celebrating Bailey....

Of course he had presents...

He loved his new ducks...

About to blow out the candles with a little help from his friends...

The Birthday Boy

On Monday, Abby & I headed to Houston for a book signing.  I have to tell you first, that I was hesitant to venture out of the house because my morning started like this...

Abby slept in (because, hello, she's 9 months preggo!).  When she got up, I had already showered, had my wet hair clipped up on my head, and had half my makeup on.  I went into the living room to chat with her and eat some cake for breakfast (because we are all healthy like that), and while I was sitting there, I got this from Brooks, her 4 year old:

Ummm, Kara?

Yes, Brooks?

You... ummmm.... you look INTERESTING today.

But nonetheless, we did venture out of the house.  Hopefully looking less "interesting", and went to meet Jennifer Weiner, one of my favorite authors for many years, was doing a signing in Houston.  I have always wanted to attend one of her signings, but it's never worked out.  When I saw she was coming to Houston, I called Abby and said, "We are going!".

I've gone to hear several authors before.  Some you leave not liking as much as you did when you went in.  Some don't really change your opinion.  I probably even had more preconceived ideas about JW because I've been following her on twitter for so long.  I'm so happy to report that Jen is the first that I think I love even more after hearing her speak & meeting her.  She is so funny and so genuine.   You just want to be BFF's with her!

She gave Abby & I extra goodies (presumably me because I traveled so far, and Abby because she was so very pregnant!).  I got this tote bag, and Abby got a beach towel...

I would travel 5+ hours again to see Jennifer Weiner in a heartbeat!

It was a fun weekend in South Texas!

Europe 2024 {Day 10 ~ Munich, Germany}

On December 22nd, I departed Salzburg train station at 8:00 and arrived in Munich at 9:40.  The station is under construction and a real mess!  I finally made my way out and found it was really raining.  I made my way to a taxi and took it to my hotel.  My hotel room wasn't ready but they kept my bags for me and I headed out.   I have been to Munich a couple of times and wanted to see a couple of things I haven't had a chance to do before.  I planned to to go to the Nazi Documentation Center first since it was raining, but when I looked it up on my phone to double check the hours, I learned they had just closed for renovations.  So rain or not, I was going to have to head out to Nymphemburg Palace.  I took the tram out and then walked to the palace. I don't know why, but I didn't take many pictures on the inside. I also bought a ticket to the Royal Stables Museum which houses lots of coaches. I really found all the sleighs to be a sight to see, bu...
