The Kitchen Decorations are, for the most part, the same as last year. I'll point out the couple of differences as I go along.
This year, as I was decorating, I decided that this tree could no longer be a multi-purpose tree. In the past, it was made up of kitchen-y ornaments, ornaments from my childhood, and ornaments I picked up during my travels. The tree was too full, so I decided to create a travel tree (more to come on that in a later post).
I got this new vintage looking tree skirt for my birthday in October. I love it.

This was part of my Dollar Tree craft project for this year.

I bought some of the Dollar Tree's village pieces and spray painted them with glitter spray paint.
Here's the how to/things I learned:
I would recommend priming the villages before spraying with glitter spray. Even just spray painting them with a cheap can of white spray paint first would be best. Then hit them with the glitter spray. This will enable you to use less of the glitter spray.
I used the Krylon Glitter Blast Glitter Spray for this project. Here's the deal on this. Apparently, Krylon has had some troubles with their spray nozzle on these. If you get an old can, it is going to go very, very poorly. If you get a new can, it will work great. I would say, wait until next year if you want to do this project, and hopefully all of the old stock will have disappeared from the shelves by then! I have purchased this both at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.
For the trees, I just used a pink spray paint from Home Depot for the trees.
At the same time, I painted some a black glitter for a spooky Halloween village to be debuted Halloween 2014!
