On Tuesday, December 13th I headed out to Chelsea. I took the tube to Sloan Square and then walked up Kings Road. Kings Road holds so many memories for me because my dorm from 1996 was on Kings Road, so I always try to go walk a portion when I'm in London. It looks different (there was no lululemon or peloton back in 1996), but also so familiar.
I took a detour to go through and see the decorations at Duke of York Square....
I captured as many ERs as I could since we don't know how long they will remain on everything...
So many pretty storefronts...
The Ivy was one "must see" place on my list...
The pink wreath & pink door were another...
Surprise! There are two!
Next stop was Peggy Porschen for brunch. This is the newer location that I hadn't visited before...
The cupcake and cake selection...
I had eggs benedict...
and the Happy & Glorious cake which is a vanilla infused Victorian sponge cake with vanilla and lemon buttercream and strawberry & elderflower jam
After breakfast I continued walking along Kings Road with a detour to Godfrey Street.
If I win MegaMillions, you will find me purchasing one of these homes
I walked on to Belgravia and past the Original Peggy Porschen on Elizabeth Street
I found myself near Buckingham Palace, so I made sure to walk past.
I walked through Green Park headed to Annabel's. Annabel's is a private club that always has over the top Holiday Decor. But these darn buses would not move!
I walked on to New Bond Street and then Old Bond Street to see all the storefronts in their finery.
Chanel
Dior
Cartier
Tiffany & Co.
Then I hit up the various Arcades (Royal, Burlington, etc.)
This one changed colors if you stood there long enough...
I made a stop in Cath Kidston (as always), and then next door to Fortnum & Mason to replenish some tea...
Fortnum is always a sight
After some retail therapy, I walked on to Carnaby to see this year's madcap decor
Then on to Liberty of London where I found dog bowls that I still dream about for Poppy, but are also on that "after I win Megamillions" list
I took the tube to Knightsbridge because I had tickets to the Fabulous World of Dior (even though I wasn't completely sure what that was). Harrod's had partnered with Dior for their Holiday decor. They had decorated the outside of Harrods like a gingerbread house.
Every single window display was Dior and gingerbread themed
And it turns out the Fabulous World of Dior was the story of Dior in gingerbread form.
The first Dior fashion show...
Loved the miniature Dior dresses...
The thought bubble over Mr. Dior was clever...
I took the tube back over to where I had been earlier in the day to see all the sights lit up after dark.
Bond Street
Ralph Lauren...
Carnaby...
The real showstopper is always Regent Street's Angels
Claridges
I walked up to Oxford Street to see the decor at Selfridges
They had great disco ball puddings
For dinner, I headed to Mayfair Mercato which is located inside a former church...
There are various food & drink vendors
I had a handmade pasta... the Cacio e pepe. I had seen this location on Stanley Tucci's "Searching for Italy" London episode.
And finally...I wasn't ready to let it go, so I walked back by Annabel's and success!
29,310 steps later, I called it a day! I had seen as much of London's Holiday decor as I could manage. I had an early morning the next day, so I went back to the hotel to pack up and get ready to change not only locations, but countries!
