Europe 2024 {Day 10 ~ Munich, Germany}

On December 22nd, I departed Salzburg train station at 8:00 and arrived in Munich at 9:40.  The station is under construction and a real mess!  I finally made my way out and found it was really raining.  I made my way to a taxi and took it to my hotel.  My hotel room wasn't ready but they kept my bags for me and I headed out.

I have been to Munich a couple of times and wanted to see a couple of things I haven't had a chance to do before.  I planned to to go to the Nazi Documentation Center first since it was raining, but when I looked it up on my phone to double check the hours, I learned they had just closed for renovations.  So rain or not, I was going to have to head out to Nymphemburg Palace.  I took the tram out and then walked to the palace.

I don't know why, but I didn't take many pictures on the inside.

I also bought a ticket to the Royal Stables Museum which houses lots of coaches.

I really found all the sleighs to be a sight to see, but let's talk about how many sleigh bells the horses wore!
This was a room dedicated to King Ludwig II (Mad King Ludwig who build Neuschwanstein Castle that I visited in 2022)  He had some pretty coaches and sleighs.
This one coverts to a sleigh
This is the conversion sleigh piece.

After palace tours, it had stopped raining for a bit.  I took the tram back into Munich where I had lunch at a restaurant I had visited before.
 It was at this restaurant where I encountered THE MOST GERMAN scene ever...
I had lunch and then was able to go get into my room.  I thought the skies were clear so I only meant to stay in my room for a minute, but a huge storm blew through so I waited a bit before heading out to the markets.  First up the Marienplatz Market.

After walking around this market for a bit, I headed to the Residenz Market because I wanted to see that talking moose.  I believe I have to see a talking moose every year or the trip isn't complete. I'll spare you the video of said moose.  On my way back from the Residenz Market to the Marienplatz Market, it started sleeting and then by the time I was back at Marienplatz it was a full blown snow storm!  I was a tad bit excited if you can't tell from this video!
The snow on my lens made this one look a little odd, but it's just so pretty!

It was just magical!
And because you can't have too much magical, here's one more...
I was basically out of cash so I couldn't eat at the Market, but I stopped at this place on the way back to my hotel for a take away sandwich.

I have stayed at the same hotel my previous times in Munich, but this time I decided to stay at the Platz Hotel.  I really liked it.
Because rooms in Munich can be kind of expensive and I was only there for a night, I selected a single room.  It was spacious enough and updated.

It had a big shower with a door (I hate all those open showers for a variety of reasons) and a real hair dryer that I didn't have to hold a button to make it run.  The hairdryer thing is just so huge for me!

And then, just like that, it was December 23rd and time to walk to Marienplatz to take the S-Bahn to the Flughafen and go home!
These gentlemen were certainly the most festive I saw at the airport.
And that's a wrap on my Europe 2024 adventure!  I'm already planning for this year's and waiting on the flights to open...only 6 more days, not that I'm counting or anything!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
