Saturday began at Cafe Du Monde for breakfast.  Abby and I were wearing our team shirts and supporting from afar, but more about that later... Yum! Then we started our never-ending walk! We walked down to the Aquarium and stopped in to view "The Grand Canyon" on 3-D Imax.  I think it was the first time I've ever seen a 3-D movie.  After our movie we went into the aquarium. This is an exhibit that shows how the offshore drilling makes Artificial Reefs for all the fish... It's set up to look like a drilling platform... It seemed to be less realistic than in the past because it's missing giant oil plumes... This made me laugh... The White Alligator... My, What Big Teeth You Have... The Better to Eat You With My Dear! Love the Sting-Rays Don't they look smiley? I wasn't able to get a good picture of my favorite part of the Aquarium, the otters, but I did get an adorable video of one of the otters eating his snack of shrimp... I could die he/she is so darn...

I'm currently feeling some reprieve from the Allergy Assault of 2010 due to Maximum Strength Mucinex-D, so I thought I'd blog about our first day in NOLA {aka: Last Friday}.  I also decided that I think I will blog our trip day-by-day until I'm done.  So, tomorrow will be last Saturday, Sunday will be last Sunday, and Monday will be last Monday.  I took approximately 250 photos, so I'll try to edit myself and not overwhelm you. I flew in from Dallas and Abby flew in from Houston.  I was suppose to arrive 15 minutes before her, but my flight left a few minutes late so we basically arrived at the same time.  We stayed at the Marriott on Canal.  It is one of my favorite places to stay in New Orleans for several reasons, but the biggest is that I love the location...right on the corner of Canal and Chartres. They have done some renovations since I was there last and one upgrade is the elevator.  I'm sure you are thinking "What the ...

I think they're trying to kill me.  Who is "they"?  They are Ragweed and Fungus.  Currently I can tell you that it appears they are succeeding.  I hope to turn the tide and overcome them.  When I do, I will get right on blogging about NOLA.  Until then, I will continue to live in my drugged up, congested, over snot-producing state. I do have to ask:  Did you see the Oprah episode on "Waiting for Superman"? If yes... I am home.  I got in last night about 9:30.  I am soooooo tired.  I had such fun, but this wasn't a restful vacation!  I tried to take a nap on the flight home because I figured that would help me out today, but the lady in the middle seat just had to wake me up so she could go to the bathroom.  I mean COME ON!  It's an hour and twenty minute flight!  You can't hold it?!?!  I've sat in the middle of 5 seats on a transatlantic flight and not gotten up because I didn't want to wake the 2 people on either side of me!  I have tons to do, but tomorrow is crazy busy with class in the morning and again at night and then a custody hearing in between.  I also have a suitcase full of sweaty and stinky clothes that need some laundering at some point.  Finally, I'm trying to play catch-up with all the new shows that are piling up in my DVR. At some point, I will download all 200+ of my photos into my computer and blog all about my trip....

Today, Random is the name of the game... (1) I've been in CLE (Continuing Legal Education) all darn day.  It's usually pretty boring, but I would say that only about 2 hours of the 6 hours were boring beyond belief.  From 8:30 to noon, I learned about childhood psychological disorders.  It was entertaining (if you can believe that), but if you had been there it would make you never want to procreate (or procreate again if you've already do that).  (2) I WD-40'd all of the doors in my house this past weekend.  It's kind of changed my life.  The back door especially.  It had squeaked and been slowly driving me insane until this weekend when it hit me, "Why don't you put some WD-40 on it?".  Duh!  The silence is wonderful, but my bedroom door and my closet door now close spontaneously.  This has caused me to almost run into the closet door on more than one occasion.  It has also proved to be a puppy trap in my bedroom (Milly once, ...

I love TV.  I have loved TV for a long time.  For my 5th birthday, my great-grandfather bought me the coolest TV on earth...or at least I thought it was.  It was a 19 inch color tv with a remote control.  Not only that, but it also had a built in telephone.  I could use my remote to dial people and actually talk over the TV.  Anyway, the birthday gift when I was 5 helped turned me into the tv junkie that I am today. Being the TV Junkie means that I've been happy as a clam this week since Fall premiers have started.  I've already caught new episodes of Gossip Girl and Parenthood.  There are several new shows that I'm hoping are great.  One premiers tonight, even though it's actually going to run on Friday nights... I saw that People Magazine didn't give "Outlaw" with Jimmy Smits a high rating, but come on, it's Jimmy!  I love Jimmy and will watch him in just about anything, including that crapalicious show about the Cubans running the...

I've been wavering on whether or not a wanted an electronic reader for about 3 years now.  I almost requested a Kindle 3 Christmases ago.  I decided against it and boy have I been glad about that!  First of all, they've come a long way in the technology department since then, and they are also less than half of what they cost back then. One of my big hold-ups regarding getting one is the lack of ability to borrow books (though I think that B&N's Nook offers that now on some level).  However, I have this week had the epiphany that I'm a book loaner, not really a book borrower.  I probably borrow less than 2% of the books I read every year.  So I'm holding myself back due to the fact that my friends like to read my books.  Now I love my friends, but I'm thinking this is some warped logic. Oh well, I'm sure I'll stay on the fence on the matter and won't actually bite the bullet.  If ipads were cheaper, I'd probably go that route.  But si...

Today is grandparent's day.  I had hoped to do a cute post with photos of me and my grandparents and Lola and her grands but I can't locate any of the photos I know I have somewhere, so I'm done trying.  Happy Grandparents Day! Samantha over at the Ruby Turtle Hippie Times blog got and then gave a blog award/questionnaire thingy and tagged me last weekend, so I'm answering the questions and will be passing along a questionnaire of my own.  Here it goes... 1. Hallelujah! I found a shoe that fits!  My friend Abby told me about some she bought at Luke's Locker and reported that she loves them.  I went over to Luke's today because I had a hunch they might work.  Abby and I have a tendency to be able to wear the same shoe (only I wear one size larger).  Sure enough they worked.  I wanted black...I thought.  But I didn't love the black they had.  So I copied Abby and got the grey and pink.  (Although, I just saw on Amazon that these come in Black with a bright blue swish!  I made need those too!)  Thanks so much to Abby and Luke's Locker! Unfortunately, now it's suppose to rain next weekend in Nola and there's no way I'm wearing my new shoes in the rain!

There is only one darn thing on my whole entire body that is skinny and it causes me more grief than the parts that are fat not skinny.  My feet are skinny.  More problematic, the heels of my feet are skinny.  I went to multiple stores today looking for some new tennis shoes.  I need some actual new normal tennis shoes, but today I was looking more for what you would call street shoes.  A shoe that is like a tennis shoe, ie: comfortable and kind of tennis shoe style, but not so clunky and noticeable and preferably in black.  I could not find one pair to fit. I wear an size 10 in normal shoes, but an 11 in tennis shoes.  I hit up Nike Outlet, Puma Outlet, Cole Haan, DSW, Nordstrom and even my go-to-place, New Balance.  Every single shoe I liked they either didn't have in an 11, or I was literally able to pull the shoe off my heel without unlacing the shoe (not good because that means my heel is going to slip and cause blisters).  New B...

Holy Hermine! Last night when I watched the 10 o'clock weather report, they were claiming that Hermine's torrential rains were all going to be west of the metroplex today and that we would receive 1-2 inches of rain. At about 10:30, I let Lola out before putting her in her kennel for the night and things went south from there.  She took care of business, but on the way back into the house, spotted a mouse running along the bottom of the fence and the chase was on...in the mud.  Due to Lo's constant patrolling, there is a nice dirt path along my fence line, which due to the rain, was now muddy. I mean it, she is relentless with the patrol.  Don't even think about walking behind our house, or she'll give you the what for.  Want to solve the problem along the Mexican/US border?  Send a herd of schnauzers.  They'll keep everyone on their respective sides.  But I digress.  So Lola spots the poor little mouse and a chase ensues.  I may hav...

I took the day at it's title and labored.  I spent 6 hours cleaning house.  It was a hazmat zone because I hadn't given it a good all at once cleaning all summer due to my finger ailment.  Now my house is so clean and straight that the only thing standing between me and true contented happiness is muddy puppy paw prints that keep reappearing on my kitchen floor! I like long weekends, so I don't want to seem like I'm complaining, but I think I prefer long weekends that involve Friday off instead of Monday off.  Even though today is Tuesday, it's seemed like Monday all day long. I had plans this weekend. Big plans. Those plans included 3 new books I purchased at the Half Price Books Labor Day sale, 3 DVDs of One Tree Hill Season 5, Football, watching Tony Blair's interview on "This Week" (nerd alert), and some groceries to cook a couple of good meals. I planned to never leave the house... Seriously. I talked to Lisa on Friday as I was trying to run every errand I needed to run and get all the ingredients I needed. She asked why I had to get it all done on Friday and I replied, "So I can be a shut-in this weekend". She laughed. I was serious. But there was a flaw in my plan...I had made plans.
