Sale Splurges

I realized I haven't shown off my Nordstrom Anniversary finds.  I think I got some cute stuff (I've already returned one dress, but I think everything else is a keeper).  Three things had to be ordered in my size, so I don't have it all yet.  Not that it matters.  It's mostly all fall/winter stuff and it's like a furnace outside.  Which probably calls into question my sanity that I was trying on sweaters last Friday...the hottest day of the year so far.  Seriously though, Nordstrom should have cranked the air down to about 50 degrees because I darn near dehydrated while trying on all that stuff! Here's what I got... I got these "riding pants"... jodhpurs.... I ordered them in black and brown.  Both are suppose to come with black leather patches.  The brown online show to have brown patches though.  I'm abnormally worried about this.  I want them to have black patches on the brown, just like they do in-s...

Fruit Pizza

Fruit Pizza has been around for awhile.  It's nothing new.  It's nothing exciting.  It's super easy.  I decided to make one to take to a friend's house this past weekend. The primary reason I decided to make one is that it only requires 12-14 of oven time, and in this Texas heat, that is a big plus. (because I'm a ding-bat, I only took a photo with my iphone) I had forgotten just how darn good this is as a summer dessert!  YU-MMY!  So, if you've never made one, get crackin'.  If you had forgotten about this tired old recipe, break it back out and make it soon!  Your taste buds will thank you! Fruit Pizza Place 1 roll of Pillsbury Sugar Cookie dough onto a greased pizza pan.  Pat it flat.*  Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes, then let cool. Mix together: 2- 8 ounce packages of cream cheese (softened) 1 cup of sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla Then spread over the top of the cooled cookie. Then arrange your fruit.** Peach slices...

Cooking Tools

I love cooking tools.  I love pretty cooking tools even better.  I love just about any cooking tool that comes in pink... These were the primary mixing bowls I used for several years.  Only there used to be 3.  I broke the size in the middle...the size I probably used the most. So then I got these from Williams Sonoma.  I think I got them as a birthday gift. Remember..."I believe in pink". I thought these were particularly great for several reasons.  (1) They are made of melamine, which is way more durable than the ceramic ones. (2) They each have this great little spout which makes pouring things much easier and less messy. (3) They have a rubber ring around the bottom which holds them in place on the counter when you are mixing or stirring stuff. Then those evil geniuses at Williams Sonoma, got together and said "How can we entice the people who already have a melamine set of bowls to buy another set of bowls?".  So they came out w...

Some Perks

Today is my take advantage of what few perks I get in life day. Perk #1- Nordstrom Pre-Sale.  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins tomorrow, but card holders could take advantage of the pre-sale beginning July 3rd.  I had wanted to wait until pay day mid-July before purchasing, because the Nordstrom card I have is not a credit card, but it debits from my bank account (see Perk #2).  Today I called and placed my order over the phone and the items will be waiting for me to pick them up tomorrow (except for a couple that were ordered and will ship to me).  I really just ordered the stuff that I knew I wanted for sure, or that I knew what size I needed.  I will go browse tomorrow for a few more possibilities.  Many of the items I ordered were my Mom doing early Christmas shopping for me.  Perk #2- Because I write my own  paychecks, pay day was the 14th of this month instead of the 15th so that I could do my Pre-Sale shopping!  Some of my...

Coming Summer 2012!

Who can name ever single character in this photo? Back row left to right: Ray Krebbs, Bobby Ewing, Pamela Barnes Ewing, Jock Ewing, J.R. Ewing, Sue Ellen Ewing.  Seated:  Miss Ellie.  Standing in front: Lucy Ewing. Now maybe I know all their names because the real Southfork Ranch is located in my county.  And located near the ranch is a trailer park named Southfork Trailer Park.  And in said trailer park each and every street is named after a character.  And on the said streets, lots of criminals live and get arrested, thus I see their names and addresses on the jail list daily.  But no, this is not how I know the names of these characters.  It is because I remember watching Dallas every single week.  I love Dallas.  I'll confess... I even own some on DVD.  So you can imagine my delight that TNT is bringing Dallas back to us next summer! I love that JR is still  a total turd the villain and Bobby is sti...

A Fun Visit

I had such a fun weekend thanks to a visit from my friend Ann !  Sadly, I guess we were having too much fun for photos, so all I've got is a couple I snapped on my phone and a couple I "borrowed" from a website.  Ann flew in from Lubbock on Friday afternoon.  She came with gifts of cupcakes and a couple of cute Vera Bradley pieces in my pattern.  Let me tell you about these cupcakes.  They were G O O D !  They come from a place called Cake in Lubbock.  Ann brought Pink Champagne, Red Velvet, Coconut and Lemon.  The Pink Champagne and Lemon were my favs.  Here's a pic of the inside of Cake... and the pink champagne (I'd die for the recipe!)... We went from the airport to Northpark to do a little light shopping and meet up with our friend Courtney for dinner at PF Changs.  I toted my heavy camera all over the stinking mall and did not take ONE photo! On Saturday, we shopped around town until about 4:00, when we came home and watc...

Shopping Success

Gone are the days when your best gal pals rush over to your house to see what you've purchased.  Now, I get a "you need to blog that so I can see it".  Well okay then,  friend who didn't know how to e-mail back when I met you in 2001, this blog is for you: I have been needing some new work shoes for a while.  But it seems that whoever makes heels has decided that they all need to be 6 inches with platforms.  Such high heels with the platforms are not feasible for me, nor have they been since 2002, when I got to have two screws placed into my left ankle following a graceful fall down some stairs.  That being said, the kitten heel isn't always a great option either because I think they look odd with my dress pants. So I've been on a search for a while for what has seemed to become the Holy Grail of dress shoes.  A 3ish inch heel, no platform and to add to the difficulty, a size 10.  My gargantuan foot causes problems too, because here's the scar...

Vera

I've been wanting some Vera Bradley for a while now.  Other than the few small pieces (flat iron case, coin purse, flip flops, etc.), I have never really invested in the Vera.  The main reason was that I couldn't ever make up my dang mind which pieces I wanted.  Also, it's kind of pricey to buy and not really be sure about. I think that some of my indecision was caused by the girls that work at our VB store.  I always wanted a large bag that I could carry-on to a plane.  They always tried to talk me out of the Large Duffel because "it wasn't structured".  They always tried to steer me toward the Get Carried Away tote or the Weekender.  I really thought neither one of these would really fulfill my needs.    Last weekend when Lisa & I went to Nocona, she brought along her Large Duffel, which ironically enough, I had purchased for her one Christmas.  I decided on that trip that the Large Duffel was the answer, no...

Iphone Photo Dump

Last week, I seemed to have taken all my photos with my phone.  Here was some of the excitement... Harper came by for a visit Lola isn't too sure about littles... She really isn't sure about them when they make noises... I met my cousins Maddie & Gracie, and their mom, Kati,  for lunch on Wednesday at The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Maddie turning 10... Maddie with her new Vera Bradley e-reader case and a cosmetic bag to carry the cords for the litany of electronics that all 10 year olds apparently have these days...iphone, ipod nano, nook color, etc. After lunch, we walked over to the Vera Bradley store where the girls got to load up on more Vera for the coming school year.  Tote bags, lunch bags, 3 ring binders, flip flops, etc.  I later became very jealous over their Vera and took matters into my own hands, but that's another subject for another day!  Stay tuned for that post... I also hit up DSW this week and hit a gold mine! More about that...

Another Royal Wedding

As you know, I LOVE a good royal wedding.  This weekend one was held in Monaco, but I just wasn't feeling it.  Prince Albert wed the now, Princess Charlene (Princess Charlene?!?!)  in a civil ceremony on Friday and then a church ceremony on Saturday.  I've been hearing the bragging from Monaco since April that this was going to be so grand that it put the April nuptials of William and Catherine to shame.  To that I say, "Ha!". First, I thought the whole "Fairy Tale" was just tainted.  I mean when 10 days before your wedding the bride to be was trying to flee the country because it appears that you have recently fathered a THIRD love child, and you had her passport confiscated to keep her from flying home to South Africa...this doesn't seem like a good start. I also wasn't crazy about her dress.  I know, it was an Armani dress and all, but I didn't like it.  The white was too white.  The beading looked cheap.  To me, I thought it looke...
