Done!

I'm done with the darn baby shower for my cousin! I had the thing here at my house this morning and am just exhausted! Everything went fairly well. The food was great: we had brunch with two egg casseroles (one vegetarian for my cousin), a great green salad with granny smith apples, spicy pecans, blue cheese and a great vinaigrette that we made, fruit salad, bread, mini strudels and of course, cake.
A picture of the oh-so-cute cake!
The house was clean and looked nice with blue hydrangeas on the table and cream spray roses.
It's the best part of hosting a shower...you get to keep fresh flowers at your house!
Lola was a perfect angel. She did really well and only had a couple of "bad" moments: (1) when someone rang the doorbell (I really need to put a sign up that says please don't ring the doorbell and rouse the pup!) and (2) when someone's baby cried. She made a friend that was so adorable and petted her the whole time. She was super gentle with Lo, and I am certain that Lo was sad to see her go!
Maybe it is just me, but anytime I have people over to my house, I always end up getting ticked off. Please note before I go any further that I'm not really close to the majority of my family that was here today including the guest of honor and I did not know a single one of the non-family guests. Anyway, most of the people were very complimentary of my house, but I did hear a couple of people, one of which I know lives in a much smaller place, say "what a cute little place". I don't know why, but when people call my house little it just lights a fire under my last nerve! My house isn't huge by any stretch of the imagination, but it is about 2000 sq. feet. I mean, hello! I live here with my dog, how much space do I need? Trust me, when I'm cleaning this place, I wish it were about 800 sq. feet! Anyway, don't know why that sets me off, but it does, and people are always doing it.

Then right before I was rid of the whole bunch, the guest of honor made a great comment that has left me seething! Here it is (paraphrased a little, but not much people): "I wanted to have an only child, but Kara has messed that up for me because Erik (her husband) said, what if we only have one child and it ends up like Kara." To which of course, I'm like "hugh?". And she replies, "You know we hope to have grandchildren some day, so Erik was like, if it ends up like Kara, we will never have grandkids." I manage to retort something like, "Wow, news to me! I had no idea I was barren!" But people, let me tell you I was P-I-S-S-E-D O-F-F ! As you can tell, some 6 hours later, my sentiments haven't really changed. I'm so glad I opted for the cheap gift!

you should have said, "you should be so lucky to have a child end up like me!"

seriously, though, what an idiotic, insensitive thing to say!

The party looked beautiful!

So sorry for the insensitive comment. It would have made me equally angry.

Dude...wow. That's all I can really say.

If it makes you feel better you and Ann are always my reason for having an only child! Anytime someone wonders about having only one, I think of you both!

Europe 2024 {Day 10 ~ Munich, Germany}

On December 22nd, I departed Salzburg train station at 8:00 and arrived in Munich at 9:40.  The station is under construction and a real mess!  I finally made my way out and found it was really raining.  I made my way to a taxi and took it to my hotel.  My hotel room wasn't ready but they kept my bags for me and I headed out.   I have been to Munich a couple of times and wanted to see a couple of things I haven't had a chance to do before.  I planned to to go to the Nazi Documentation Center first since it was raining, but when I looked it up on my phone to double check the hours, I learned they had just closed for renovations.  So rain or not, I was going to have to head out to Nymphemburg Palace.  I took the tram out and then walked to the palace. I don't know why, but I didn't take many pictures on the inside. I also bought a ticket to the Royal Stables Museum which houses lots of coaches. I really found all the sleighs to be a sight to see, bu...
