Lady & Sons

Friday morning we were up early to get in line for Lady & Sons (Paula Deen's restaurant).

You have to get in line. They start taking reservations for the day at 9:30 a.m. I had heard that you needed to be in line at 8. 8:30 if you wanted to risk it. I decided to get there at 7:45. I went and got in line with our cupcakes from Sugar Bakeshop in Charleston while Jenn and Suz went to get our caffeine for the morning. I was super pleased when I was the first in line. The gentleman to my left got there about 5 minutes after I did.

This guy and I were so perplexed by all the stupid people. Even after the line got long, people still tried to get in line in front of us. I even had a battle with some folks from up north who tried to tell me the line was going the wrong direction and they were going to start it in the correct direction. I informed them that the line went which ever direction the first two people in line decided it did and if they wanted a say, then perhaps they should come back tomorrow morning, but earlier! Here is why people got so testy about the line...

and that isn't it... it is like the energizer bunny. it keeps going, and going and going...
all the way around the block!

All of us in line...

After we got our 12:00 time slot, we went and walked around River Street...in the pouring rain.
As I mentioned in my "real time" post, when we went back, Jamie Deen was there in the store.

Suz and I each had our individual photos with him. Jenn didn't care about it because "I don't cook", but we coaxed her into this shot. I don't care if I cook or not. I don't think I would care if I had ever eaten food or not. I think he is darn cute and I'm not passing up a chance to get cozy with him!

We had to pull ourselves away from Jamie and go eat.
Here are some menu shots...

We all got the Southern Buffet...

There Are No Words

except maybe who knew I LOVED collard greens?!

Since we didn't get to see Paula, I took a photo of her signature in the cement outside.

More to Come, but I really thought this all deserved it's very own post!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
