More Painting

Friday I went to Nocona to do some painting.  I drove up after I was done with court.  On the way, I drive through my grandparents little town.  Big news!  They got a traffic light...their first.  So metropolitan!

Once I got there, Mom spent some time showing me all the bathroom supplies that have come in since I was last there.  Then we discussed a rearrangement of the utility room/tanning room/exercise room to make room for an elliptical machine my dad is getting.  Then much to my Dad and his friend's chagrin, we put our plan into action and they had to move the tanning bed.  It all looks much better and is more functional.

Then the paining was on.  And I painted, and painted and painted.  I think that the new color looks great on the walls.  We also painted their entertainment cabinet and another cabinet to match the kitchen cabinets and I antiqued them the same way.

Mom had already started moving some things when I took the before photos, and the trim/doors haven't been painted yet, but here are the before and after photos:

(which due to upcoming construction, was not painted in this trip)

That shelving cabinet had been white, but already had coat of the new paint on it-you can see here how the  kitchen cabinets that were this color now blended into the wall color
Before the after photos, you can see that these two hounds were just tuckered out~like they had done all the painting!
~Disclosure:  The new wall color didn't photograph well, but hopefully I picked the photos that were the closest representation~

I had hoped to come home on Saturday night, but since I didn't finish until about 10:00 p.m., that didn't happen.  I did get to go across the river to The Peach Orchard for lunch (tarter sauce!) on Saturday though.

Sunday, Mom and I looked at paint samples until we were cross-eyed, but finally picked out the paint for their bedroom, both bathrooms and all the trim in the house.  Then I went to visit my grandfather at the nursing home.  I had planned to see all my grandparents, but my Meme was in Albuquerque, and my other grandparents weren't at home either time I went through their town.

On my way back home, I made a couple of stops in a little German town that I drive through.  I stopped a grocery that has a meat market and got some summer sausage, cheese and some meat.  Then I stopped at a convenience store/German Bakery for some Bratwurst on a bun and a yummy blueberry pastry treat.

When I got home, it was gloomy, misty and perfect nap weather, so I had no choice but to go with it and pass out on the couch with Lola for a nap!

It looks wonderful! You do good work!

And how did I not know your parents have a tanning bed? I need to visit them between now and Easter because I am VERY white. My legs might blind people when I break out the skirts! :) Ha!

Swiss Oatmeal {Copy Cat Recipe}

I'm obsessed with Swiss Oatmeal.  I particularly love   Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal.  If you are not familiar with Swiss Oatmeal, it is a cold oatmeal cereal with fruit and nuts. I've had a similar recipe for years, but it was only similar.  It wasn't close enough for my liking.  So I finally set out into the land of Pinterest to find a recipe that was a good Copy Cat.  I found a few, combined them and came up with what I think is a very close Copy Cat Recipe of Corner Bakery's Swiss Oatmeal. Here's what I do (note, this recipe is really just pictures, because I don't really have measurements for these things.  The photos aren't great, but it's easier if I show you what I do)... Here's the Phase 1 ingredients...   Milk Honey Yogurt (I use a vanilla greek yogurt) Oats (old fashioned, not quick...you probably could do steel cut too)    I've simplified this to where you only need a bowl and a spoon for Phase 1 becau...
